One of my Aurora's TB card stopped working over the weekend. Looking to find a used one, but so far it has proven difficult.
Have any of you with the old Aurora tried the new TB3 card in the old Aurora? I know it doesn't physically fit, but I am thinking with an appropriate extension ribbon cable?
Surely, someone must have been curious enough to brave it?

According to Lynx, it will not work and unfortunately, as you are experiencing, Those older ones are unobtanium.

I am hoping for that one rebel out there somewhere, whose curiosity got the better of her/him. There's a lot of stuff that isn't supposed to work, but does.
If it's just the size of the card that stands in the way, I am more than willing to MacGyver a solution, involving ribbon cables and an external box.

Put a working card in for another protocol like usb, sell it, and get the Aurora N. Yeah the cost will hurt but someone will be happy to have it because Lynx is Lynx and still the best, high quality, cross platform solution.
RME isn’t close in sound.
Apogee only has 2i/2o on windows for anything good. I suspect a Symphony III chassis with better airflow will come for the new low power 16 SE cards for Apogee with Windows support because right now the Apogee USB hardware is lower latency and more efficient on Windows than it is on Mac and Apogee used to be Apple partnered.
But still 6k for 32 channels of Aurora N or 9k for 32 channels of Apogee Symphony is a hammer. Just think of them as a console but higher sound quality than any console ever made with their modern line stages and the crazy routing possible in daws.

Believe me, the thought crossed my mind.
Unfortunately, financially, that's not an option for me at the moment.

Give them a call at Lynx. Paul is great. I've been super happy with their support. They may be able to fix your card.

I have had nothing but stellar support from them for as long as I've had their products. And I am already speaking with him about this problem. Fingers crossed he has a magic trick up his sleeve. What I'm trying to find out here, is going way beyond what they can answer and support, from a business point of view. Which I completely understand.
