Man you really got me all sizzled up with your header. 🤣 As a huge Bonham admirer I have seen that around. Have not used it as I havn't yet got into the sample world. But thought I’d throw another interesting link to you that might interest you as well for comparison by two guys who have done their homework on Bonzo and are in my opinion carrying the legacy of Bonham in a way very few does. www.toontrack.com/product/big-rock-drums-ezx/when i listened to the yurt rock commercial i was not too impressed by the sounds. The miking technique presented on the pictures does not look like the homework would have been done These details are on another level with tootrack. At least when I listen to demos.

All good and then there is question of John’s artistry, the perfect drummer for LZ!

I don’t think anyone would touch that. I don’t even use drum samples when mixing unless they’re already printed.

Neither of thses sound anything like Bonham. Exactly. You are spot on that. That’s exactly why I like the The Toontrack approach on this topic. It’s Mike Miley behind big drums tuned high. Not trying to be Bonham but carrying the heritage and the aesthetics nicely. They are nailing the 60/70’s big rock drum sound derived from early jazz, to Rich to Zep, and set it in a modern context, I would probably personally off the bet pick Miley and Cobb if someone asked who should track this stuff. I think there is more into the context of “Bonham” than actually sounding like him. It’s a very era specific, production specific and aesthetic specific style of drumming he basically defined the drumming of rock n roll with. So sure no one will sound like Bonham, not even Jason, though he does a great job playing the lines, and I don’t think anyone want’s a Bonham clone on a serious production either. But the aesthetics of the genre is still the holy grail of rock n roll and therefor to strive for. So I think there is a market for a seriously produced and high quality samples with those aesthetics, despite that style represents a genre where sample drums are probably not the first that comes to mind, but could be a great way to cover bad drum tracks.

I don't know about the sample sets, but George is an amazing player. Really great. I think he used to play with my buddies in Zeppelin II.
