I know these are really popular with guitar players(myself being one), but has anyone ever tried running mixes through them? Asking cause I just picked up this Chase Tone Secret Preamp, and I think what it does to guitars would also be really cool on a mix. Slight compression, smoother highs, nice punch in the low end. You can gain it up about 3dB as well. I’m definitely gonna mess with it later, but just curious if anyone’s tried this yet. chasetone.com/secret-preamp/

Guitar pedals may not be full bandwidth enough for program material, but can’t hurt to test it out.

I made this a few years ago, but ran a bunch of line level signals through my Fulltone. I think there’s a section where I just ran stuff through the preamp.

Id say thats very cool, and definitely useful for printing drum machines. Maybe even horns and aux percussion stuff...

I’ve got an original Chase Tone Secret Preamp with the NOS goodies, if anyone is interest in buying it.

I wasn't really a fan of the way the Fulltone TTE changed my guitar tone, I would have preferred the preamp side to have been a bit more transparent. (This is getting a little off topic, but I don't really care...) When I still had my TTE, I contacted Fulltone about a mod they occasionally did on the Version 1 TTE like mine that tweaked the preamp and made it more transparent. At that point, they said that they didn't do mod jobs anymore. Frustrating, but understandable as I was sure they were busy. I had another tech ready to do the work for me, but needed to confirm one or two small things about the changes (I found a lot of info online, but better safe than sorry). It would have been a simple "yes" reply, but on top of all of that they wrote back and said they don't "coach other techs" either. I politely vented a little bit of frustration, basically saying "I get you're too busy, but can you at least help me out here and just make sure I'm going to do this right and not mess anything up?". Long story short, the owner got involved, escalated things and was really rude. I can never prove it, but within a few minutes of that email I also got the only negative rating for the studio on my google business profile with 1 star saying I was a "trash person and horrible service". I'm sure it was just a coincidence...
I guess it doesn't matter anymore as Fulltone is out of business, but I sold the TTE and all my Fulltone stuff after that. The TTE was really cool, but definitely not a company I'll ever do business with or own gear from.
