The boom stand thread got me thinking about this again. What are you using?
I have some ankle weights that work okay and some sandbags for serious work, but saw some cool custom clip on things at Electrical Audio that seem like weights affixed to something that looks like a binder clip. They look very easy to use. Hoping I can find something similar or there is something I haven’t thought of. Besides those ankle weights seem comparably pricey if I want a bunch

Fortunately she was a friend.

I’ve bought so many cheap ankle weights at antique stores over the years, I think the most I’ve paid is like $5 for one.

For round base stands a friend puts spare barbell weights on top of the base (the stand goes through the center hole in the weights) Super easy and works great those things are not going anywhere
I saw that went home dug out my old ankle weights and started using them on some small stands it's a good improvement in stability over the previous nothing at all

It took me a minute to understand you meant stabilization . . . . I'm no fan of spell-check or auto-correct either.

Just bought one of each. That might solve some of my boom problems as well.

HERCULES MS533B Hideaway Boom Stand
I'm replacing all my stands with these.
They have a locking clutch ....
.... no more sagging boom arms for me.
