Acustica has unofficially made it clear they're not planning to update their older acquas with the new improved and more efficient technologies.
What do you think?
If you bought some acquas in the past, were you expecting to get performance improvements in the future?

Just as an example: they can model a new Cardinal ( Flickinger) console plugin But they can’t do an SSL (Sand ) update I call BS

I don't personally agree with their business model and after owning some of their products for a while, I stopped buying them and go elsewhere

I’d be ok with a Upgrade fee . We’re not talking 29$ plugins here . Also Acoustica stated that some couldn’t be upgraded with the new technology. Just tell me your not going to.

but hey, thats pluginsworld … did anyone really think buy once get updates for free a lifetime? I mean, that is what Acustica promised. "Free upgrades for life" was a big part of their selling push for a while. And I think some people may have purchased acquas with crappy performance because they believed updates would improve that performance in the future. Looking around, one would see some Acqus did get updated for free. (Gold to Gold 5, Green to Green 4, etc) Acustica promised free upgrades and that they were constantly improving performance on their acquas. What they left out was "Those improvements and upgrades may not be applied to the acquas you purchased. In fact, your acqua may never get upgraded again." Which leads to things like this guy on the purple site. If he thinks Acustica is going to update the 70+ Acquas they now have, he's going to be in for a harsh realization. Offering "free upgrades for life", having people buy acquas based on that promise, then getting around that promise by choosing not to upgrade those acquas is very nasty. Acustica has explained that upgrading old acquas is very expensive and they don't make money on it like they do selling new products. But this was very predictable on Acustica's part. So now there's many customers who are increasingly unhappy asking, "When's acqua X going to be updated?" And it turns out, the answer is probably "never."

Yeah, I've gotta say that the recent happenings going on with Acustica over the last few years has me thinking about getting off the Acustica train all together. They've been doing some sheister shit.
This sort of situation with not updating plugins was bound to happen sooner or later. Granted, I agree that Acustica basically promised to upgrade "forever", so I think they owe it to customers to live up to whatever promises were made or otherwise implied, but it does get expensive to continue upgrading, so I've honestly been surprised that it's taken as long as it has for Acustica to pull the rug out.
Anyway, with all of the other shenanigans they've been involved in, it might be time to turn the page on Acustica. They've never not been a pain in the ass to use. Throw in all of the other stuff, and is it still worth it (or was it ever?)? I might still keep the ones I have and just use them sparingly on busses, but I kind of don't see myself buying any more Acustica stuff. Also, it seems like a lot of the new stuff is basically rehash combinations of stuff they already individually released previously. I think they've run out of interesting stuff to sample at this point, so I don't know that they have or will have anything else that interests me anyway.

“They've never not been a pain in the ass to use. “
I could never get over the install hassle: why bother?
I’d say cut your losses and move on.

I gave up on them too. Does anybody want to buy all my AA plugins ? It costed me 2k euros, I'd sell them for 700 euros. PM if interested.

(Gold to Gold 5, Green to Green 4, etc) ah ok your point. i dint know that they made that promise. but its obvious that giving everybody free updates with new hyper tech would be commercial suicide: do the work and give it away for free for the older plugins? commercial suicide. the workaround is to create new plugins with the new tech so they theoretically don‘t break their promises. but i can see old customers who invested in the plugs based upon the promise are pis*ed off. but i do use my plugins some 5-7 years and more before purchasing new ones so maybe i am not the target group.

1. I stopped using Acustica tech a while back because it got to the point where I could hear it changing the integrity of my source tracks and I started to prefer it bypassed. Their more recent algorithmic saturation sounded alright.
2. G, the owner...appears to have very thin skin sometimes, and tends to respond in ways that attack his critics and/or use vague language that will allude to them making an asked for change to a product or the Acustica framework, only to go back and say that was never promised later. (See the resale debacle.)
3. Acustica really was offering something revolutionary in the beginning, and their prices reflected as much, but I think they don't hold up as well now against the newest algorithms.
