The Rule Tec Pultec plugin gets a lot of love here on RGO. Is it still the best out there? Noise Ash is having a Fall sale right now.

Literally forgot I had it. This thread did remind me to try it. Haven’t used it in a good while

It’s good. I’m still not sure it’s as good as the UAD Pultec, but it’s comparable. Remember to flip the analogue button.

TDR SlickEQ M sounds better than any Pultec.
I use PSP NobleQex when I want gritty oatmeal mush and Apogee Pulse Pultecs when I want warm brown mush. I’m sure you can use the Pulsar Massive Passive to get glycerin mush.

I still put both RuleTec EQs on my master bus every single time.

Curious about the Rule Tec but I also feel I've got enough options. Acustica Purple does the job but these days I usually just use the Pultec settings on Equilibrium (curves are good, get the tone elsewhere).
Nothing I've used nails the real deal but even then I could live without it, though sometimes it really can't be beat.

I like the Rule Tec. I was surprised how little harmonic content it adds, even compared to a solid state Pultec.

My favorite Pultec plugins are the Apogee Pultecs, to my ears more vibe and oomph than the RuleTec

I've been searching for a Pultec EQ with zero latency to use in the master buss, but so far the UAD, Bettermaker, Noise Ash all add some latency. That's unacceptable for the master bus. Has anyone found anything with zero latency?

I like the Rule-Tec, but prefer the UAD. I'm not sure if I tried any other than Waves, which I don't do business with now.
iZotope's vintage EQ is supposed to be Pultec curves. I just don't reach for it as often.

Still using the Ruletec and Noiseash neve plugs everyday. Prefer them to UAD, waves etc. The ruletec sounds more like my SS pultec than any other plug I’ve heard.

Has anyone found anything with zero latency? every modern mixer in the digital era where you can monitor the storage medium disagrees with you there. Anything good on the mix bus causes latency through lookaheads or anti-alias filters. Hardware inserts add even more latency.

How is that plug in affected by the new upgrade cost decision ? I haven't followed what's going on there so I'm not sure. I will say I purchased it on version 1 and have gotten free upgrades to version 3.5 so far.

A seems to be introducing a cost for upgrades. I don’t own any so have no insights into it, other than the thread .

A seems to be introducing a cost for upgrades. I don’t own any so have no insights into it, other than the thread . It's not so much a cost for upgrades (at least from what I've seen/heard), it's that they may have just decided to STOP updating certain products altogether. So if your personal favorite Acqua hasn't yet made the leap to their newest tech, you can't necessarily count on it ever doing so. This would be a change from the way things have historically been done at Acustica. Though to be honest, the way they've historically done things has never made that much sense. It's also possible that Giancarlo means something different than how folks are interpreting him. I frequently read his explanations about something and walk away a bit more confused. It seems like a lot gets lost in translation for me with Acustica.
