I always liked this recording done with the Cactus. No idea what the processing is on it.... I can tell what wasn't used: a de-esser. Has the world gone deaf? I was thinking where’s that JJP custom John Mayer Desser, a Fairchild in the side chain 😁

That last part is almost certainly an automated, boilerplate message.

That last part is almost certainly an automated, boilerplate message. Probably but I heard a rumor that SW has made a big push to get better inventory software and tie it to their e-commerce site.

We’ve got a pair of bottles at my studio with a decent selection of capsules. Those mics sound pretty darn good, though I confess they’ve fallen out of favor as our mic collection has grown. They’re also quite a nuisance to set up due to their unusual size and weight distribution. Latch Lake should buy Blue, the bottle has probably sold more of their stands than any current mic😁

Right, I suspect the quantity is accurate but I think “more coming soon” is a likely default when their database sees they’re down to one unit. When they set this up discontinued product lines would be a tertiary concern at best, don’t you imagine? Hell, you know better than me, my fellow Nelson. Could be wrong.

My probably very distant cousin, yeah in most cases discontinued and superseded products require a manual edit / entry, but if Logitech / Blue / JMP has any left ion the shelf Sweetwater would be one of 4 or 5 dealers in the US I would offer a deal.

If you wanted to launch a line of microphones, Relaunching BLUE would be an easy way to do it . . . supposing you could buy the pro stuff from the Trackpad people. Of course, you would follow modern practices of domestic assembly and manufacture of components where cost effective, and importing only that which would be sensible . . . let's face it, a trade showdown across the pacific is looming and if that happens, a lot of parts will become difficult to get. (please don't turn that statement into politics, I'm just referencing practicality here)
Then which of BLUE's microphones would you put in the line? Kiwi, Woodpecker, Baby Bottle, Blueberry, Bluebird, Spark, a smaller tube bottle with 4-6 great caps, and perhaps the hummingbird SDC, Dragonfly and Mouse?

I had a Latvian BLUE Bottle mic with almost all of the capsules for a long time. Also a blue mouse and a kiwi. They were good mics, but I far prefer a lot of the current offerings from other companies. Their customer service was less than desirable in my experience, and they mistreated me on the purchase of a brand new bottle capsule one time. After that, I sold my blue mics and moved on. They were good tools, clear and extended, but slightly strident and sibilant in my experience. They had a some harshness in the upper mids and highs that was a bit much for me. Sad to see the legacy of that company take a downhill turn and ultimately go under. They started out very strong when they were focused on high-end audio tools.

This is a good Cactus vocal:

And this is my favorite Kiwi vocal. Music starts at 4:47 and Taya flys on the vocal a little after 7:30.

If someone can get the rights to manufacture the Woodpecker ribbon mic and somehow lower the noise floor, that would be great.

The Key would be finding a quality source for the capsules and transformers. The problem is you’re probably going to find that the house that mice built is probably not going to let you have the lowend stuff and want a promise you won’t compete. There goes your cash flow. You would need to wait at least a year because you want consumers and dealers to forget current prices, the low cost models probably subsidize the highend, plus they are going to want you to take Summit as well. Then you get into the tangled web of what deal they still have with JMP.

Tori Kelly making a powerful argument for the Blue Bottle: That's a baby bottle at that, and it sounds great. It does have the trademark BLUE zing in the treble that I always de-ess. But a nice overall capture!

Why did the Lead Singer stare at the orange juice bottle for 2 hours... It said "concentrate"! Chris

Acoustic guitar and vocals were both done on the Blue Baby Bottle on this track. I didn’t do anything on this recording, but was in the room for some of the tracking.
