I’m always looking for new books to read. I just finished Andrew Hickey’s *California Dreaming* and Kent Hartman’s *Goodnight L.A.*, and before that, Ian MacLagen’s *All the Rage*. I’ve also read *Chairman at The Board*, Al Schmidt’s book, I’m partway through Al Cooper’s book, etc. I’ve read a lot of books in general. Any suggestions? Preferably books/authors with some level of musical and technical nitty gritty.

Not very technical, but I was the audio editor on Joe Boyd's memoir White Bicycles. It covers 1960s London in depth, but also touches on some latter productions in Joe's long career as a promoter, club owner, producer and ultimately, label exec. Notable artists include Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, and Richard Thompson among many. Great discussion of the acoustic flexibility of Sound Techniques in London, and memories of some specific sessions, but written for a general audience.
Great read.

Ken Caillat “Recording Rumours” was a nice read. Loved the Joe Boyd book too. Thanks for this recommendation, I grabbed the audiobook and started listening on my way home from a session last night. I knew it'd be good when the bad reviews were complaining about too many technical details.

Phill Brown - Are We Still Rolling? Ken Scott - Abbey Road to Ziggy Stardust Glynn John - Sound Man
I seem to remember some good stuff in the Behind the Glass books (two volumes I think) but each interview is much shorter than a full book.

Geoff Emerick's book Here There and Everywhere is really good. I want to read Ted Templeman's book.

Ken Caillat “Recording Rumours” was a nice read. Loved the Joe Boyd book too. The “Tusk” book is pretty good too. Both were a nice mix of recording info and “dirt”.

Studio Stories by David Simons - "How the great New York Records were made : From Miles to Madonna, Sinatra to the Ramones". Great read if you're into the past New York studio scene.

Greg I am ashamed to say I didn’t know “ Get Tusked” was out, saw your post and ordered a copy. So if I’m not spending much time on RGO next week you all know why.

Phil Brown's book, "Are We Still Rolling?" has a lot of great stories and some details. He's a fabulous engineer. I just started Alan Parson's book on recording last night, will let you know how it is. Guessing it contains some... Tales of the dark side. Chris

Another one that’s interesting is Temples of Sound short chapters on some of the very old studios.

It's not books or biographies, but I enjoy going to worldradiohistory.com and reading all the old magazines starting from the late 60's. (db magazine, mix, modern recording, etc..). I love the talk from the 70's predicting the digital takeover, having unlimited tracks, mixing in a computer. Ha!
