I was wondering if anyone on here was still using JCF converters. Every bit of information I can find about them has been very positive but there haven't been a lot of reviews that are longer than a forum post. And they have been around for more than a decade.
Also, if anyone has used the LATTE, how would you describe the preamps in them? Can they be compared to anything?

Rai Thistlethwayte is one of the most talented people I've ever met. I've booked him a couple of times and Will came to see him and hang out. Those two are tight and both totally down to earth guys.

I have 16 Channels of JCF AD 8 and I love it for its natural analogue character. Zero Digital artifice.... I also have prism, Metric Halo and Lynx (N) Tracking with the JCFs just sound like the pinnacle of vintage HIFI... I also Have a mic pre and comp that I had Josh make that function as my go to vocal chain.

I did a record with a jazz group last month in a room with all JCF converters. Mastering labs preamps too! I just started mixing it today, the sound is amazing. We have prism in our studio here and are very happy too.

The JCfs are the clear winner in my mind. My favorite overall AD ever made for tracking..

I also own a couple of other preamps from Josh. What I would say is that they have the clearest high end I've ever heard and are some of the least harsh, smoothest pres you'll find. I suppose that reads as very colored to some but I'd argue that the JCF does a better job of representing the analog signal than most other converters I've heard. Thank you for all the insights everyone! Oneiro, clearest high end and least harsh is one of the nicest combinations to hear about a pre.
Everyone's examples all sound so effortless.. beautiful stuff.

I would have bought one of these awhile ago if I wasn’t so happy with the Apogee Special Editions.

marc daniel nelson has a yt video where you can hear different converters. the jcf is one of them. link: I've learned a lot from MDN's vids, His opening bassy grind theme is unparalleled as an aperitif, and the dude just seems pretty cool with a good approach to preserving, yet enhancing the OG track. And, for me at least, I learned of my ASA-6A from his vid, for which I'm grateful (since I will never own a BA-6A). Gotta say though, from the thumbnail, the Dude looks positively giddy with delight to dive in to some converters :-D PS- I've been looking at the Latte for a while, but was mostly interested in straight converter devices, so the extra features here weren't too compelling. I think I need to assess the converter-only devices from JCF as well. I hear folks talk a bunch about drivers and meteorites. How is JCF perceived to be for driver supports going forward?

I remember that video from a while back and thought the JCF was pretty remarkable. Can't afford them but boy do they sound good.

I still adore my 16 channels of JCF and consider them the most like analogue as far as transmission of emotion.

I track through JCF AD8 converters and mix on JCF DA8-T. They are the converters to buy if you want to stop buying converters. Very cheap if you compare them to a tape machine....

Just out of curiosity, what are you using to go from the JCF to your DAW?

JCF doesn't make an audio interface therefore there is nothing to write a driver for.

I'd say they are borderline unusable drivers.

Could I have made it any more obvious that I'm still using the converters on my interface? :-) Thanks for setting me straight lol. Welp, I'm hoping to step up a bit soon. I'd like 8 out and 8 in for outboard work. I couldn't believe the differences for converters in that YouTube MDN video! I had thought Burl might be for me, but it's too colored. I love the expansiveness of the JCF.

The level matching in that video is a concern. I have no doubt the JCF is fantastic. But the difference is less noticeable when properly level matched.

I have prism, Lynx Aurora (n) metric halo, had or used digidesign, apogee, Burl ect.. The JCF sounds more natural than all and the benefit is stark when you start stacking tracks.. Very like the emotional presentation of tape....
