Just a bump. I don’t think I have ever been in the same room as a C37. But they keep popping up in videos I have seen Lately. Lanois. The new David Gilmour way in the back. Etc. So other than vocals what do these shine on ? Cheers, Geoff Acoustic guitar, drum room, snare (if you have a drummer you trust), Leslie if you have a pair, they are fantastic microphones.

Keep an eye out for a Groove Tube MD3, it was Aspen Pittman’s attempt at recreating the C37 (his favorite microphone) and used a Josephson capsule. I had used mine in a bit and used them for vocals this week and it sounded fantastic.

Has anyone on RGO actually used the Mojave and have any comments? Thank you. Very very briefly, it was impressive, but for now I still have eBay & reverb set to apart me to a Groove Tubes.

I have used the Mojave, the Groove Tube, the Sony and heard the Tonelux. They all have their own character but are in the ballpark. I can't believe the money old MD3s are going for.

And, the Mojave is over $5 large Canuck up here. Lots of great mics in that price range and under. So not exactly inexpensive either.
Cheers, Geoff

And the Tonelux is $3 and change here. Still not inexpensive but considerably less than the Mojave.
Cheers, Geoff

Yeah I wouldn't pay what some people are asking for MD3s. They were around $2500 new when they came out though. I think I paid $1500 for a pair a couple years back, and if you see one for around $1000 with a power supply, they are still one of the best values around. I believe the Manley Silver Reference is also supposed to be C37 inspired.

Yes that is true about the Manley. Honestly I would say that in almost every application I would use the C37 a ribbon or a U89 would sound better but that is just my tastes.
