Hi! it is my first post here I wanted to ask if there is any Amtec equipment owners, I'm mostly curious about the peq1a-peq10 and 099 compressor. What have been your experience with them? Thank you  |

Welcome to RGO. Looks interesting, but very limited distribution means few have heard of no less heard these. If you get a chance to play with them please report back.

I have the PEQ10 and it still is the fattest LF tube EQ I have ever heard - nothing touches it.
If you ever find one - grab it.
Its reputation is " when a Pultec got married to a GML "
Gold.

I want to try the Amtec BC-5A band compressor one of these days. That said, I have no experience with their gear for now.

If any of you who have purchased Amtec gear and have had any interaction with the people behind it, it would be great if you could ask them to pop in and tell us about this line. Color me intrigued.

They announced on their Facebook and via email (which i received), in August 2020 they were closing..
"Official announcement: in September 2020 Amtec ceases manufacturing, so there will no more Amtec Audio gear.
Thank you to all of our customers".

Never got to test out their gear, and I was bummed..... Lucas had a pair of his EMI/Altec type comps going cheaply before he closed down. That was a missed opportunity as the 099 Fairchild’s sound amazing. He was quite the genius but I think running a company was too much. |

I’ll echo what everyone else said — Lukasz is a genius. I purchased one of his Model 099’s years ago and then, just last year, ordered a second one to go with it. Lukasz keeps such detailed notes that he was able to closely match the tube and transformer characteristics between my two units. They’re essentially a matched pair. He’s still doing runs of the Model 099 if you reach out and ask him nicely.
He’s also just a great guy to chat with — a real class act.
The Model 099 is my go-to compressor. It strikes the perfect balance of elegant simplicity and powerful control. It is just so intuitive to use. You’re not bogged down by options and it’s easy to get to the result you want, fast. Even the balancing procedure is simple and brilliant.
