I'm leaning towards Adcom 535 or 545. I want to stay away from vintage power for the most part though, something real clean that won't give me issues. Something dependent, maybe even a hi-fi amp. I was looking at the XTZ Edge A2-300.
These JBL's are gonna be paired up with a sub and they will be mainly used for listening purposes in the studio rather than mixing. Currently, I'm using Amphions and slate VSX for mixing decisions.
Any suggestions are very welcome! Thank you!

The best external amps for old JBLs and UREIs had massive transformers. Consider the iron content.

A Bristol 3B for stereo or 5B for stereo plus a non-powered sub is one decent option. Especially with THD at 0.005%
The Yamaha P2500S is also a great amp for near fields, to mid-fields but doesn't quite have the oomph of a Bryston or old Crown, or AB.

More concerned with having something that will be clean power, doesn't need to pack too much of a punch. The Bryston 3B is a little bit out of range. I like the Yamaha P24500S idea a lot, will definitely look into that. Thank you!

The Bryston even a first generation is a big step up from the Yamaha, faster better LF definition you either love or hate the HF. With a 91 dB efficiency you can probably get by in the near field with about 50W ( measure your listening level average and peaks and listening distance and use one of the many SPL/power calculators www.stageaccompany.com/support/calculator.html). I’ll bet an old Bryston 2bLP or an Adcom 535 ( better still a JW modded one ) will be enough. In fact I use a little Quested 25w amp on the Quested H208’s at 3.5 meters and haven’t clipped the little bugger to often. On the very low end of the price spectrum I hate to admit it but I was given a little Samson servo 120 that I use for testing and DSP programming at home that doesn’t suck, in fact it is fairly dark but has a really smooth lower midrange ( OK that might be the ATC 12😁). It is in fact a bit smoother than the Crest’s and Stewart’s I have used live, might pick up a second. If you want to go period correct pick up an old Phase Linear and a fire extinguisher and smoke detector. Or if you have the $$ a 80-90’s Macintosh, lots of old JBL / Mc combos in studios and homes around the world, not the most transparent but pretty consistent tone top to bottom.

Avoid the series II Adcoms, they have a notorious LF roll off.

We have JBL 4315 in our control room soffits, powered by a made-in-America, original Mackie 2600. Sounds fantastic
