Yep, another one of the greats has gone. A fantastic musician and songwriter from a band of fantastic musicians.

If anybody ever has the chance to read his biography do so, lots of great stories, like when he was young playing this club in Dallas owned by a guy named Jack Ruby.

They were at the forefront for so many legendary moments. As a Canadian and music lover, definitely my favorite Canadian band.

My dad knew Garth in university.
When I heard of Robbie’s passing I was just down the road a few miles from where Garth grew up.
Friends in the industry worked with Robbie on some of his post Band records. I was told he could be a bit prickly. Nothing awful, but having to be booked into a particular more expensive suite in a particular hotel. That kinda stuff.
A friend of mines mom grew up on a farm in Simcoe, Ontario. Her neighbours growing up? The Dankos. She had a horse named Fanny. Coincidence?
Anyhow, thanks for the great music Robbie. RIP.
Geoff

Great Robbie guitar work on this tune. That entire live album is fantastic and has some really freaking great moments by The Band sans Levon, he was fed up with the booing and went home halfway through the tour.

I had the good fortune pf picking up two of his nephews as my rhythm section for a bit back in the 90s. Oh the stories I heard!
