In light of the recent comments on frustrating P's Place interviews, here are some oustanding ones that are packed with info and fun to listen to:
Paul Wolff @ Sunset Sound
This one is LONG. They get into cars at the end and there's a bit of promo for their anniversary preamp, but wow - the first half has a great overview of the history of consoles in general, Datatronix, the custom API modules from Sunset, API 550A vs 550A-1 vs the 312 and 550A modified cards with 990s, the surprise discovery of proportional Q vs constant Q, an API channel strip for telephone transmission, etc.
Joe Barresi and Wes Dooley (AEA)
These 30 minutes flew by for me. Some history of Joe's career plus a lot of good info on ribbon mic evolution and the fantastic AEA preamps. Candid conversation with two awesome characters.
Anyone else found recent ones that hooked you in?
