This is not a pro-audio question at all but... whatever. Looking at doing some booking up in the DFW area for my new band but it's been like 8 years since I've played up that way. I know some of you know that scene a bit. Where should we be looking? gwlee7 Bat Lanyard others? We sound like this... www.thelightaluminum.com

I played at Rubber Gloves in Denton a million years ago, that was cool. Looks like it's still going.

I helped install the sound system in a place called "Caravan of Dreams", in Fort Worth, back around 1983. It was a huge cultural undertaking done through the local govt, and most of the funding came from the Bass Brothers, of oil fame and fortune. I always have wondered what ever became of it.

Here’s a place in Mckinney that you might try: www.hankstexasgrill.com/Also look up Six Springs Tavern in Richardson. For some reason, I am having trouble getting their website to load. Be advised that this place is originals only. The owner gets pretty grumpy if you play any covers. Another good place to try would be Guitars and Growlers. They have 3 locations one of which is only about 5 minutes from my house. I test out new songs at the singer/songwriter night at the Flower Mound location almost every Monday night. I will ask around and post here again as I get more info.

We often get the "you're not country enough" at first (and I guess we're not?), but people that love that type of stuff tend to love our music. I'll check all these out. Awesome.

gravesnumber9 Here is the link for Six Springs Tavern. My favorite place I played so far but once again, he is very serious about all original music. www.sixspringslive.com/there is more info in the FAQ on the site.

Hey gravesnumber9 also checkout Three Links in Deep Ellum. Old friend from back in the day owns it and have done a few reunion shows there over the years. Cool place.

IIRC, there was the jazz/live music pub, a concert hall for plays and music, a dance studio, a recording studio, art exhibition hall and meeting rooms. It was quite a big deal.It was a big Union job, and we were non-union coming in from NYC, so there were some payments involved, if you know what I mean..... I remember one of the Interior Designers didn't like the color of the imported marble put down in the bathrooms so she made them jack-hammer it all out and replace it, at considerable expense. Money was no object since the benefactors were all big shots.

Also gravesnumber9 , Sundown at Granada Theater is another good place to play. Just saw they have Mac Sabbath on their calendar. You need to go to that. It's awesome. It's exactly what it sounds like, a Black Sabbath parody band with the instruments played by McDonald's characters. Sent you a PM also.
