Thanks for the shootout. Cool design!
For me A1 sounded the best compared to B1. More balanced and "real sounding". B1 was a bit brighter in a not-so-pleasing way. Moving on to A2/B2. For fingerpicked guitar it is nice to get that extra sparkle of B2, still, I do like to have some leverage on my recordings in the midrange so again, I would go with A2.
So all in all I do prefer the A-samples. Could you PM me the result?
Cheers!

My guess is A = KM84; B = MG20. I'd love to be wrong, though. "B" is a terrific performer, but I prefer "A" and I believe it to be the KM84. Mainly, "A" has a richness to go along with that smooth top. "B" does sound nice on top, but seems to lack the same richness. But yeah, I'd love to be wrong and only need to cough up $700 or so instead whatever the going rate is for KM84s in good condition.

To reveal the files in both Acoustic and Electric guitar tracks the ‘A’ is MG20 and ‘B’ is KM84.
Best, M

The two mics sound quite different to my ears. Both sound fantastic mind you - but there is definitely some big differences.
A sounds a bit more relaxed where as B is more upfront. B just sounds like a faster response. More lower mids in A which can either be considered warmth or mud depending on the source. Both have lovely detail - and sound bright without sounding harsh. I feel like you could make a fantastic recording with each - but if it’s the km84 sound your after this mic is a slightly different flavor.
This has inspired me to spend an hour or so checking out more of the Samar product line. I hope I can add a few of their mics to the collection at some point. They sound damn good and look like they’re made with the right mindset.
