I’ve kindve found an exciting new way to do my guitar stuff. I’ve dug the ToneX software, but it just sounds unexciting through AT5 imo. So I pulled up ToneX in Pro Tools, dropped buffers to 64 and thanks to the badass Mac Studio, no sweat is broken. Even with a bunch of them loaded. I found Audiothibg Springs and I love it. Big upgrade from the effects in AT. It basically has no delay. Like 7 samples or whatever it’s measured in. A lot of the UADx effects like Brigade Chorus, Waterfall Rotary, Dimension D are the same. But just thinking about other standalone modulation effects. Be cool to use them like pedals.

PSP L’otary, Scanner, and all the delays. U-he fx are among the best in everything they do. Emulations of specific hardware usually cannot touch them. You can even use Satin as a low latency tape delay if your computer can handle it. Goodhertz plugins like tremolo, lohi, wow ctrl, vulf, and my favorite Megaverb. The gate in Megaverb is awesome The Fuse plugins are great for what they do.

Any flangers out there? I have used that MXR UAD one, but it’s not native.

PSP's PCM 42 updated version does great modulation sounds.
Audiority has the Tube Modulator and some good stomp box simulations.
For flanger I dig Eventide Instant series, Audiority Electric Matter or Satin.
Arturia collection may be worth a try - their free Juno chorus sounds pretty right to me.

Except for the awesome tverb if you abuse the gates and compressors. The others I only like as sends except for the delay in Ultra Channel as a thickener. You can use the gate creatively in Megaverb to approximate all kinds of weird lofi 80s and 90s Alesis and Yamaha patches.

Not sure how it would fair in place of a pedal, but it just sounds good as an effect, so I'd think it would be cool.

I sometimes use it just for the pedals, like if I’m tracking through the Iridium or the Suhrl RL. Also Plug-in Alliance has some pretty good pedal plugs that you can get for like $10 in sales. I use The Fix for doubling/flange quite a bit, but more often than anything else (in plug-in land)I use the Eventide H3000. But more often than plug-ins I use the Empress Nebulus. I’m so fond of that thing.

Valhalla Ubermod is good. Echoboy also has some good chorus presets. Tal Chorus LX and Baby Audio Magic Switch and Valhalla Spacemod are nice freebies.

Arturia’s dimension d, bi-tron phaser and BL20 flanger all ends up quite often on something on my mixes. Especially the dimension d on guitars to add some air.

I forgot about Antares Choir. That plugin can be cool on a stereo aux.

Softube Fix Flanger and Doubler are sometimes $9...and they have AAX DSP versions if that means anything to you. The A/DA flanger plugin isn't bad and can probably be had for $9 too. There may also be a AAX DSP version of that one. Waves Kaleidoscopes? The Fuse pedals are cool and often half off or more when they have a sale. Very expensive but the Stymon Blue Sky?
