Interesting video.
In general, I'm a fan of Jordan's work — he's a phenomenal mixer/producer with some respectable credits to his name. I'm more inclined to pay attention to his educational material than other random YouTubers.
That said, I'm not sure I'm 100% onboard with the premise of this video. Never been a fan of the whole lining up capsules + doing one take thing when doing a mic shootout.
IMO, the differences between the 47 and Rode are pretty obvious, especially when the singer starts laying into it. Not night and day, but meaningful to me, personally. The upper mids on the 47 sound present and smooth, whereas the Rode is kind of sizzly. I also think they may have pushed the mic pre/compressor a tiny bit too hard — sounds kind of gritty to my ears.
Anyway, still fun to watch:

If you can't hear the difference, maybe you can't hear the difference, and maybe the difference doesn't matter or doesn't matter to you.
It's ok. We're not all Eric Johnson who can hear the difference between batteries in guitar pedals.
One of the greatest things about great microphones, be they Neumanns or AKGs (or Telefunken versions of either) or the Heiserman, Flea, Upton, DP etc recreations is that you don't have to crank them to hear them in the mix nor do you have to process the crap out of them for them to work.
Just my musings at the moment. Back to work.

That has to be a world record in fact errors in that short history lesson haha!
I do think it's entertaining with those kinds of shootouts. I mean I thought my S.E X1 sounded pretty convincing against my M269 haha ... Well well!

Well… the the difference was pretty obvious. Despite a rather colorful pre and compression. Was it 100 times better? The last mile is always the expensive one and that you end up paying for.
I don’t know if it’s that interesting anyway to compare these two, as you could put the 47 up against a 2-4K clone and be way closer and still have a price difference to actually debate. Or compare any good tube mic from the price range of let’s say funkens alchemy series and you go… Both sound great, different but great.
The nt1 just didn’t sound great I think. Had those same upper mid/high end thing going on and thinness that made me get rid of mine back in the days. Thought it was rather useless back then and still do with all the alternatives available.

I'm pretty happy with most of my similar decisions when it comes to microphone choices as well. I should hope, at this point, that anyone weighing in here would have enough experience to be able to have a preference and make a decision. I don't think that was an ever an issue for the fine people I know here.
