I love the pre amp and it’s di for bass. For me the Miad eq were just a little better sounding. I think the eq is a great eq though.

I'm surprised there's not more GR combo-users here. Maybe that, in itself, is meaningful...? The GR combo has a very interesting/ unique problem; while it is an awesome piece of kit and probably more versatile than a Neve 1073, it’s way cleaner than the Neve! This should not be a problem except enough of us know the sound of the Neve, a lot of what we want a Neve or a damn good clone for is as much what it gets wrong as right. Dan Kennedy and crew took a bunch of what it technically did wrong away, Damn those Minnesota guys. Don’t get me wrong I love it, but everyone wants a Neve! One day I’m gonna get one of these. |

What I always found funny is that the biggest evangelist for the GR clean Neve sound was also the guy who pushed the Distressor’s 1176 distortion box, Fletcher. |

From my experience, the Great River sounds very close to the Neve it's derived from, just a little smoother in the upper mids, a little less bite.

I have the 500 series version of the pre and I absolutely love it. The DI sounds great too.
