Just wanted to say Happy Father's Day to all the dads here. I know there are plenty of folks here with no kids, so apologies for leaving y'all out on this one, but I just wanted to acknowledge that despite all the wonderful things fatherhood brings (and it really does bring lots of amazing stuff) it's hard being a Dad sometimes. Especially when your job (musician, audio engineer, etc.) doesn't cleanly fit into society's ideal of what a dad looks like.
Despite my son's many physical health and mental health challenges, I'm incredibly grateful to be his father. I've learned an awful lot from him and from the experience. I believe it's made me a more three-dimensional person, and I hope that comes out in my art, whether music or filmmaking or writing.
To the dads here: Thank you for loving your kids and for trying to put together a life that honors the totality of being human.

Well said, Mark. You’ve had more fatherly challenges than most and I think you’ve risen to them in a way that is exemplary. I know it hasn’t been easy. Well done, man.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads here. Nothin more important that any of us are doing than being present in our kids’ lives, setting examples for how to handle the stuff life is going to throw at them, and generally equipping them with the ability to figure out who they are and carve out their own path. It takes energy like you never knew you could muster, and comes with a lot of inherent stress and heartache. But man it’s so amazing! I never thought I wanted a family when I was a young dude. I was wrong. Here’s to being wrong and learning stuff. And here’s to the rest of ya’ll doing the work for your families.

5 kids for me, 3 off on their own but they all remembered and made my day.
