Think they could have matched the sounds a bit better, but I agree that UAD is the winner. Softube is also nice, but not as friendly to use.
Not included here, but Legend also has a good sound. Kinda got its own vibe that’s not 100% Minimoog IMO. I’ve retired my Boog because it’s not worth the hassle for my workflow.

Good comparison overall - as a kid of the 80s, I liked how they did it. I do wish they’d included Cherry Audio’s version, though. I have really been enjoying their synths the past year or so.

Is it weird that we also have videos like this:
Because, if the Behringer is that close to the original Moog Model D, and UA is better, wouldn't that make the plugin less authentic?
I mean, imo, with most of these comparison videos, we are mostly judging the ability of the Youtuber to match sounds. Not much else from that.

I may be misreading you, but IMO the hardware (Behringer) mopped the floor with all the plugin versions. The UAD and Softube were my personal plugin faves, with UAD being better on some and Softube being better on others. When people are saying they think the UAD is best, I believe they're just talking about "amongst the plugin versions in the video." The Behringer was so far ahead that it has me thinking about whether or not I'd like to get one. |
