Really sad news. end of an era. One of the very few “old” brands I still held in value and was looking forward to their new products despite I could not afford them 😄.

I’m trying to think of a single company that has improved its products or customer experience after being purchased by InMusic, I can’t think of one.

Look at this way the Moog family gets to retire comfortably. That’s the way you learn to look at these acquisitions when you know the people involved. The only value some of the companies gain is a rep with far more face time with the larger dealers.

Glad to see they're staying in Asheville. I haven’t been to Asheville, I but I’m 100% certain it’s better than Cumberland, RI. 😂😂

Glad to see they're staying in Asheville. Add for now to this statement for true accuracy. Of course “ staying in Asheville could mean yeah an office with a guy who answers phones.

Just going on what's there now. Obviously, things can and do change. And corporations will generally be more inclined toward profits than "community". That said, Moog has had a positive impact (including cultural) on the area. I also know some fine folks who have worked/do work there. I don't expect the new owners to be completely altruistic, but I guess we'll see how much 'soul' they have.

This isn't the first time Moog ownership has changed hands. It went to Norlin for a while. Bob started Big Briar which changed back to Moog when the Norlin version of Moog went under. The trademark went back to the Moog family in 2002. Up till now, 49% of ownership was in the hands of employees. So it's bounced around already.
I met Bob once or twice, probably when he was associated with Kurzweil. He was a friendly guy, never happier than when he was talking technology. Too bad he didn't have a few more years in him.

It would be nice if they stay but the first realization in most buyouts is “ we need to eliminate redundancy “ This means first consolidation of warehouses, then manufacturing, then marketing. Eventually R&D. You have to realize nobody buys another company with cash, so in order to make the purchase profitable you can’t operate like the prior owner, you need to make enough to service the debt as well. Companies like InMusic, a company built on acquisitions know this. This is also why so many situations like Dave Bock / UA exist.

The Asheville real estate will have skyrocketed in value. It’s not in some out of the way place, it’s right freakin’ outside the downtown loop.

Moog has a well known corporate presence in Asheville. Education programs. Festivals. It would be a shame if that went away. Asheville is the nicest thing about North Carolina that I've personally experienced. Kind of the opposite of Charolette.

Asheville is the nicest thing about North Carolina that I've personally experienced. Kind of the opposite of Charolette. Couldn't agree with you more. I grew up near Asheville many decades ago. It always felt like the big city then Later I lived in Charlotte for a while, back when it was a small graceful city. Fast forward to now. On my occasional trips to NC, Charlotte is a total mess. Auto-centered, no zoning. It's a free-fire zone for developers and I can't think of any reason to be there. Asheville, while more crowded than when I was a kid, maintains a funky vibe and overall seems to be a much more welcoming place.

Ironically, it might of been better if Behringer had bought Moog.

If they had someone who answered the phones now, I'd be thrilled. I tried for over a year to get support for a synth. Never did.

The Word on the street says that InMusic is firing most of the Asheville staff and moving production to Taiwan. 😔
