I doubt it'll stand the test of time if you put any more than 40 lbs on it, and it could be very expensive when the break/fall happens.

I've had a 70kg. console on this desk, without any issues.
If you're worried about it collapsing, replace the table top with something sturdier. The legs are fine.

I have one of these desks. It's a perfectly fine desk. Just make sure the height bolts are very tight.

Good to hear, guys! I'll probably buy this desk for my small music room.

The legs on these are pretty strong, I have even attached them directly to a couple of consoles. The table top has the typical fiberboard sag issues over time, but a couple of 2x4 running the long dimension can keep this from occurring.

Some of them are very cost-effective these days.

Some of them are very cost-effective these days. Most of the “ real studio desks” suffer from the same problem. The IKEA legs are available separately and honestly Ward you have no idea how many times I have stopped at IKEA and then made the long trip across the road to Home Depot for a sheet of 3/4 plywood and a couple of 2x4’s for a custom desk. My preference is still for some of the really nice old heavily reinforced steel school lab desk frames but since my favorite office recycling center closed down those are hard to find. So what am I getting at ? Well I’ll put it as simply as I can after selling a bunch of studio furniture and seeing even more out in the field most while very well designed to be easily flat packed and assembled, just isn’t well engineered.

I have an IKEA wood table desk with 4 tubular legs. It's worked with 100+ lbs of rack + gear for 10 years.

Your right this one has that metal pan and while it is better than the ones without, I have seen them sag under weight for a couple of years, usually only with something like a console with 4 rubber feet that doesn’t distribute the weight. But they are much better than the ones where the legs bolt right to the top.

Just a 37 keys keyboard, RME sound card, 49" monitor and peripherals. That's all I need right now :-) A cup of coffee and a plate of home made food

Fcuk it, I'm posting this here: My current setup with the new Ikea's desk and MA Akustika's speakers. Does the whole setup give off cheap vibes? Could I show such setup to a client? I mean it sounds okay and I can make music with it

Nice clean setup. I built my temporary desk using a cheap particle-board top from Ikea and adjustable electric base I got on Amazon. Worked perfect for the past year, but I'll get a solid top when I move next year.

Thought the same thing. I can hear the reflections from my speakers on my desk, so I know that speakers being behind the monitor like that has to make a huge difference in what can be heard. Stand them up and put them directly next to the ends of the monitor and it should be fine.

Good thing about Ikea stuff is that it's relatively cheap and you won't feed bad about hacking it. I bought a similar desk from them many years ago and made quite a few modifications. I then put the top on a motorized base so I could sit or stand. Still looks OK unless you snoop around the backside. That's been a few years now and it's not been a problem.
The point I'm trying to make is that sometimes you'll need a customization that nobody seems to provide. You won't feel bad about doing yourself with an Ikea as a starting point and you'll get what you want. Might look like crap, but what do you care?
