I finally made a decision and bought a new system!
For my studio, I need a real "muscle" workstation with built in PCI-e slots, 14TB of internal super fast storage for my sample libraries, audio and backup etc.
and also the best single core performance so I can play my VI's at the lowest feasible buffer settings.
So today I ordered a new pro built Scan 3XS 13900K Intel PC to run Cubase Pro 12 and it'll work with my UAD DSP plugins
which are VST 2 only (they don't work natively in Apple Silicon anyway)
In the end, I couldn't face having 7 devices/drives hanging off the back of a Mac Studio, and too much of my software isn't Apple Silicon
so that kinda clinched it for me.
I should have it in two weeks from now - really looking forward to trying it, I've been on the same PC for 9 years!
I'm hoping to get a 15" M2 Macbook Air for my writing/teaching/rehearsal space when I've saved up again!
Hopefully best of both worlds.
