Remember when "Cash was KING" What the hell happened to this country? I just read your story. Wow, I cannot imagine being paid $150K over time and not going to for a trip to the bank every time someone paid for something. I mean, the risk of having all that cash at home and then the missed interest of not having it on deposit, plus of course wanting to use it and knowing (in my country) you cannot pay for anything over 5K without proof of the source, so therefore a bank account is essential. You're certainly a braver soul than I. I hope you get it all sorted - that property looks great. I wish you the best of luck.

Where it ($) was located, no one could have accessed... Not even a fire!
I've owned many a pub, bar, & nite-clubs, besides owning and operating a studio simultaneously, so having large amounts of cash back then was a regular thing for me. No big deal. And at the time, interest in a savings account was about 1.5%. totally useless. Having ready cash on hand always made more sense, and to be quite honest, except for this nonsense, it still does!
Until recently, I never owned a cell phone...nor a credit card. I lived in a different (cash only) world, always paid cash for gas, same for dinners at restaurants, even my cars, I bought cash... Only reason I got a credit card, is to be able to rent hotel rooms, & rent a cars, while traveling.
That said, I really had NO IDEA, about these new rules, I was still living in the 70's / 80's reality. Who knew.

I'm down to one credit card and want that one gone ASAP. I'll keep the Visa Debit for anything card-dependent. And use cash wherever possible.... and if they get to the point where they say "oh we don't accept cash" I'll point out the phrase on the face: "This note is legal tender For all debts, public and private" They can stick their CBDC digital dollars up their kazoos

I believe at this point, everything is done, except for the deposit. So I'm trying to figure out this "gift" thing. Only a few days left.

Yikes. I suspect if you give it to your family to give to you, that’s two times it will be taxed. Your family member may get some massive tax bill, and then you. And you’ll both be trying to write off your gifts, which of course somehow will cost. I’m no expert at all at that stuff, but I know it’s not like Xmas… I’d talk to a legal pro, I’m sure you have. Just seems ridiculous

The idiot who can’t count at the cash register! Oh Guys I get the perspective, but the idiot who can’t break a $10 sure makes my debit card look easy!

You know what looks easy to me? Handing someone a $10. Figuring out how to teach basic, simple math to anyone who gets out of HS should be mandatory. But it seems we have failed on that....

Oh brother, you know it! I went to the theater with the kids on Saturday, bought the tickets on line and went to the concession for popcorn/drinks etc. total was 25.05, so I handed the young lady $30 and a nickel ... and she hands me back the nickel "oh you don't need that too" and started to pass me $4 and 95 cents in coins... So i said to her "The nickel is so i can get a $5 back." She just looked at me with a blank stare on her face. "It's just math". She didn't understand.

Going to thin the herd and sell one of the eight cars to pay off some bills I pay on line. I've always taken cash for selling large items, now I'm starting to wonder if my bank will accept a large sum of cash? Other than cash how would the buyer pay me in this new financial world. I've received fake cashier's checks in the past. A Bank transfer? Couldn't buy breakfast this morning cause the restaurant's electric went out. Cash only. I'm confused.

I'm hearing really good things about Remitly (Remit.ly) and just used it to send a bank transfer for an RCA77. Arrived almost immediately and works in all democratic countries in the world, across borders, no issues.

to send a bank transfer for an RCA77. What? I thought you had laid off your mic insanity. Is this your first 77? If yes, you're gonna love it. Wish I had two, but that's an ongoing issue here....

Since it is frowned upon to get political around here, I will just speak to my actual experience in public school over the last 20+ years in two different states and then be quiet. Our public education system has been consistently and purposefully underfunded at EVERY single level from Federal to the local school districts. People spend money on what’s important to them. Public education obviously isn’t important in the US. Even audio engineers are treated with more respect than teachers.

Public education, housing and mental healthcare should also be inalienable rights. Impediments to either of those should be seen as crimes against to humanity. Ok, I guess we're touching on the political spectrum but not really when we're talking about human rights. We all band together for the good of each other in our tribes, so we should hold these truths to also be self-evident and do something about them. And more mics for everyone!!

The schools around here had some “new math” for past few decades that I never could really figure out. Instead of the top number/bottom number working backwards to front, it was supposed to be an Improvement. But my daughter never understood it, other parents didn’t get it, I couldn’t figure it out, I’d just teach her the old way. And I think the tutor taught her the old way as well. The School district finally ditched it and went back to old school math, which is easy for me to teach my kids. And also it’s easy to do in my head, and I see that for my 10yr old son, he has been doing it that way in his head as well. Every store I go to I’ve had that blank look for math for years, I just let them keep the change to save the confusion. Hopefully the reversal to the old method will help these kids understand better

I have 4 or 5 different online debit card/ checking accounts just so I can spread a cash payment into different accounts to have it in the banking system and then will transfer it all to a high interest savings account.
