I could actually use my MA Akustika's 8-inch high end speakers, but their sound isn't directional. They are good of course, it's just that I'm looking for some cool innovative technology that would decrease the influence of the room

You are looking for the Dutch & Dutch 8c that have been designed with bad untreated room in mind. They have incredible specs and graph, the only thing bad about them is high distortion figure in the low range at high SPL, but this does not translate in listening session. THey are DSP monitors, expect some latency figures in ms, and at least a DA conversion. www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/dutch-dutch-8c-review.21016/The Geithains, notably the K serie, 100% analog design, could also work, as they have a cardioid response in the low frequency range. So they fire bass directly to you, and won't hit the wall behind them. Less room mode. You'd still need to treat the rest of the frequency range everywhere, and the bass behind you. The Geithains help you mitigate the room a bit, to sum it up. And they sound great I'm told. They can benefit from DSP correction to make them a bit more neutral. Oh and they are coaxial and stunningly beautiful in their own Bauhaus way. The Kii three are also a great contender, but expensive. So are some of the better Geithains K serie monitors. And also the D&D lol fuck !! There are other brands that create interesting monitors for small rooms, but I have not looked into them that much quite yet. You can find some other contenders in my first post. Me I'd like to try the Dutch & Dutch 8C and the Geithain RL934k1 + a Geithain cardioid subwoofer at some point. But I'm also pretty sure that the future holds some pretty amazing new monitors that follow these pioneering designs. I wonder what will come next.

Yes, I actually want D&D very bad. But I need my monitors above my screen, in horizontal orientation. I haven't seen 8c's oriented horizontally yet

It won't work horizontally, the vents on the sides of the 8c output phase inverted signal that cancels out with the monitor mid-driver output going backward to create the cardioid pattern. You need space around the 8c for this system to work, and I'm pretty sure they can't work horizontally.
The geithains on the other hand could work horizontally, they even offer a laying version of some of their speakers.

The only Geithans that would look okay are RL 903BK's. The other ones are anti-design for me, I'm sorry Would RL 903BK's work in horizontal orientation?

Sorry for your tastes linas ^^. To me the coaxials look so great !
The 903 would work, but this model is an older design that has seen updates in the coaxial K serie.

I've wondered about these, too, Don. I really like coaxial designs when done well, but haven't found all that much on the Outputs.

Some good info in this thread. I'm going to check out some of the suggestions here and see what they offer in combination with VSX. Audio Science Review is always cool to read. Dutch&Dutch is intriguing even if the cost is high. Time to do some research for me. When the original JBL LSR305s came out, there was a lot of talk how they "measured perfectly" even in untreated spaces provided they were positioned certain ways. They always sounded really good. But I'd play my 2015 ITB mixes back on computer speakers in the other room and it'd just sound anemic compared to how they sounded on the JBLs. There was definitely some disconnect between those monitors through the ID14 and the truth of sound. Hopefully there's a few things that can compensate for anything VSX lacks.

The answer is:
1. Headphones. I've had great success with the DT770 pro 200ohm. 2. Listen to your monitors at very low volume so the room doesn't interact with them much.

I think I'll go with D&D. How do I connect them to my PC? Babyface? Or maybe I can sell it since the speakers has dac, right?
