Anybody tried this out yet? For a $29 upgrade (if you already have the ST5 bundle) it seems like kind of a no-brainer, and the demos sound pretty good. I think it's half price at $79 right now or something for non ST customers. www.soundtoys.com/product/superplate/I ditched Waves for all of the reasons, so no more Abbey Road plates there, and, with the Pure Plate release to native, I have a sneaking suspicion that we're not going to see UAD release the EMT 140 for native for a long time, if ever. So I've been looking for a native plate I can just park on a send, and this may be the one. I need to demo it first, but the sound samples sound pretty good.

Tried it. Sounds pretty good. Didn't 'wow' me sonically, but the feature set is really nice and IMO more than makes up for the sonic quality (which is good, just to be clear; it just didn't elicit a "WOW").

I often us Echoboy JR then Little Plate, so this seems pretty cool.

Yeah, the feature set seems pretty cool. I really like that you can apparently move back and forth between the different models, all while your settings stay the same.

I was wondering if I was the only one that didn’t get the wow factor. But that was my first very limited use impression.

I never really think about Little Plate. But for $29 why not have a ton of options?

Going back and forth, I still prefer the UAD 140

Going back and forth, I still prefer the UAD 140 I’ve finally joined the UAD bandwagon and I’m really impressed with it, not least the 140 just as you John. But I’ll never understand why different plates, despite sounding fairly similar, fits different contexts. And also I find Soundtoys stuff SO nice, musical, fun and inspiring so this was a no brainier for me

I'm not familiar with Audicon at all. Anyone know the deets?

I got to use Superplate on a bgv group last night. I really enjoyed getting to know it, and I like that basically 1 plugin on a group Aux is all that is needed for a controlled dash of of depth and space around a group. Tonally, I can't hear the Little Plate tone I expected to hear but I do think this Superplate is going to become a very popular choice if it's CPU hit isn't a typical Soundtoys resource gut punch. But Little Plate and SuperPlate initially sound like two entirely different animals. Perhaps after some time my thoughts will change
It does not sound like a cheap reverb plugin sound. I can hear the effort they put into making a special sounding box full of really handy options.

I'm not familiar with Audicon at all. Anyone know the deets? I know it well! I own two Gene Lawson made these in the early 70s. They are quiet as a mouse, with a very hot output, and generally brighter than a 140. So overall they have a more 'modern' vibe (more bandwidth and lower noise floor). I personally prefer them to 140s, but as someone pointed out above, difference contexts give each of these models a useful purpose.

He’s had an impressive career not just as a designer and builder but also studio owner and session drummer.

He built the Rukkus Room, and his shop is still next to it in Berry Hill. I can't imagine he is still building plate reverb but I'm sure he'd still repair the amplifier of one, but he is still making microphones and preamps based on the Spectrasonic 110A.

The auto decay function is pretty cool.

Ah, I know knew Gene made plates at one point, but I didn't know the name. Pretty cool of ST to add that option. I'll probably get the upgrade soon.

Though I just slap Little Plate on for the duties you're referring too most the time.

I'm going to pick this up for sure. Sometimes Little Plate fits a track better than my other plates so for $29, why the hell not?

Gonna grab it today. To be honest, Little Plate is in my tracking template. After getting rough mixes together over the course of time and slowly tweaking little plate with predelays, eq’s, compressors before and after etc, I usually have a hard time beating it with something else when it comes time for the actual mix.

I like how basically all of those things things are all right there in one plugin. I also think that auto decay feature is going to prove to be really useful in a "how did I ever live without this before" sort of way.

Sick stuff. I just prefer PSP EMT 2445. I’d buy it but it would probably end up like Kush x Relab Goldplate where I’ve never used it over the more digital alternatives despite their chorusing and modulation.

Personally speaking, Little Plate has become my go to for vocal plate reverb, I haven't used my UAD 140 since I got it.
The update is even better!
The closest I've personally heard to capturing the hugging envelope of a real plate - not in the same league as a real plate but like all Soundtoys plugins the vibe is spot on.
