Has anyone here ever sold anything on Sweetwater's Used Gear Page? I have listed a number of things on there over the last 6 months or so, gotten very little activity, and sold nothing. I don't know why that is. Maybe because the site hasn't been around very long or people who visit are looking for cheap prices. I still have good luck selling used gear on Ebay or Reverb's sites. I like Sweetwater's policy of charging no selling fees if you take payment as a Sweetwater Gift card. That's excellent if selling a piece of high priced gear.
I continue listing things there but if they don't sell after dropping the prices to ridiculously low levels, I remove them and put them up somewhere else. I'm not going to give away a great piece of expensive gear. I have better luck selling on Craigslist than Sweetwater and that sucks.

I honestly have no luck selling anywhere but Reverb. And I hate that. But it’s getting to the point where it’s not worth the effort to post anywhere else.

I've had great success there. A bit of a lull in activity now, but sold over a dozen items. Took some payouts in gift cards, and some in cash. I don't think the fees are bad at all. It's great that you can purchase a shipping label directly from them. Very easy.

Who wants a sweater gift card?? Their prices are generally the worst.

I didn’t even know they had a used gear site I think this is the crux of the biscuit. They aren't pushing it and it's not serving up to it's potential.

I honestly have no luck selling anywhere but Reverb. And I hate that. But it’s getting to the point where it’s not worth the effort to post anywhere else. Lately, every time I list something on Reverb I get mostly scammers. It's always someone sends me an email saying their dad wants to buy whatever I'm selling and wants you to email them. I had one even order the item once and didn't pay for it because I had called them out on their scam. Then I had to contact customer support and have them cancel the item. Then I had to relist it. I have had this same "email my dad" scam 4 or 5 times now. It makes me want to stop selling on Reverb. They are going to have to reign this stuff in like Ebay did years ago or I'm going to stop listing there.

Who wants a sweater gift card?? Their prices are generally the worst. The gift cards came from low-priced items and I used them for small accessories so I didn't have to incur any out of pocket expenses.

Everywhere else has discount codes or if you call or email can get some kind of deal. I’ve never had a Sweetwater rep discount anything for me. The price is the price in my experience. They do have decent sales at times, but if it’s not a listed sale item, they won’t budge for me.

Two words, Facebook Marketplace.
I sold 5 of 6 things there recently. No hassle, no fee. You can get also vet people by looking at their pages. Of course that's not perfect, but much better than an anonymous inquiry. Craigslist still works locally on occasion. I'll never use Reverb or eBay.

Thanks for the news! Razzing aside, FB sucks. Unless you’re my grandpa. He loves Facepage.

Yeah, I've tried Facebook Marketplace. Not one single thing I have ever posted on there sold which seems strange to me. I live in the Nashville Tennessee region and you would think there would be a lot of people buying and selling gear with it. If I was selling a guitar or amp it would probably sell but pro audio gear.....not so much. I don't get it.

The people that don’t like Facebook (Gen Z) don’t have enough money to own anything I’d want to buy anyway. Bought a mint PA system for my rehearsal space and more furniture than I care to recollect.

I'm strickly talking about audio gear. I can see where buying or selling furnishings could be effective. Pro audio is kind of a niche market and as such doesn't get as much attention paid to it on sites that don't focus on it or have a huge public presence. If I want to buy a Strat, Tele, Les Paul, or Deluxe Reverb, I can find them all day long just about anywhere. If I want to buy a Distressor I am likely going to have to go somewhere that specializes in pro audio gear. Even Craigslist doesn't have a lot of pro audio offerings and it has a massive presence. Sweetwater has the client base to have a large used pro audio clientele but really don't yet. Maybe someday but I don't think it's all that important to them. They would rarther sell new gear.

You have to look at it as a “ benefit “ vs a “ market”, simply put “ look we are kind of here to help you move your used stuff so you can buy new stuff, but at the end of the day everybody in Fort Wayne Indiana pays their bills buy you buying our new stuff.”

Selling on FB Marketplace isn't bad, although you get a decent number of people who will waste your time. Buying on FB marketplace, especially gear, can be tough. Lots of scammers out there.

I think I'm fully retired from buying used, from "The Public". Either in person or like somebody here. Selling? If it makes it past the "gift stage" (most of my stuff is sub-$200 value) Again in person, using the Classified here as back up. But of course nothing less than Vintage King for my stock MXL V69 (with VF-14 ). After it's eventual KH Transformation... Christie's! Bidding starts at $40K. Chris

On facebook, you should try linking to a few other groups, it's an option. My connection to Pensado's gear sale site has worked. I'm in Nashville now, so I guess it depends on what you're selling. Most of my things sold with 1-48 hours.

FB marketplace sucks. I had something on there for months and months and all I ever got was folks trying to lowball or make trades.
I also wanted to buy a guitar, they guy said "he'd hold it for me" while I drove 20 minutes to get it. I arrived and he said he had already sold it like 10 minutes prior. I was like "WTF, you said you'd hold it for me" and he told me that he "just says that to everyone to get people to buy things and it's still first-come-first-served".
I also bought a little tube amp and the guy who answered the door when I went to pick it up was in an untied robe, smelled of alcohol and piss and his little pecker was sticking out.
Oh and I found out I had been banned from FB marketplace for 6 months. Not for sales or anything. They disapproved of a meme that I had posted a year earlier and I never even knew about it. Their punishment was turning off my access to FB marketplace.

Most of my things sold with 1-48 hours. Yeah, I’m on Pensado’s place and half dozen other groups. Nothing moves. And I list pretty nice things at market prices. Maybe if I sold more low dollar guitar center stuff?
