Is anyone on here going?? I'm not a member so I guess that excludes me unless someone wants to invite me For real though, does it really take having to get someone to invite you that's a NAMM member in order to get a badge to go in or are they easier to come by the day of the event? I'd really like to go, I've never went to one. This one being close to me I'd like to check it out.

Meh...the last couple times I've gone, it's been smaller every time. I went last year (maybe it was two years ago). It was mostly just gadgets related to musical needs, e.g., tonerite, guitar stands, etc. Of course, there were pro audio companies there - Miktek, Martin, ADK, Cartec, PMI Audio, etc...but it was nothing new - just their products in a booth. Not really a consumer driven event - more beneficial for the companies to meet each other and merchandizers and make distro deals and the like. Actually, it would probably be more beneficial for RGO to be there...but of course, it's too late to set up a booth. (And I'm sure the cost of setting up a booth costs more than the banner ads generate in 2 years )Maybe as we build up the member base, it might be a good idea. Anyway, I don't know if I would make a trip for it - I don't think it's nearly the even it used to be. Now, Winter NAMM, that might be a different story.

The internet is slowly killing off the trade show industry. Once, it was the place to be and be seen. Now it's a money pit and a tax write-off.

Winter NAMM is great. I've been going on my own hook since the mid 80's. 'Cause I'm a gear geek. I'm friends with a lot of the people who make music stuff, and it's the annual chance to see them.
I've also met a lot of people I wouldn't otherwise. Dick Dale, Pete Anderson, Steve Stevens, Michael Boddiker, Al Schmidt, Steven Slate, John Sebastian, on and on, you run into everybody there. It's where I got my picture with Dave Pensado and Herb Trawick. (Did you know Herb was a famous Canadian pro football player? I didn't. I just saw his wiki. Wait, that must be Herb's dad or something. Born in 1921, died in 1985.)
Lots of jamming going on too.

If anyone is needing a pass, let me know. Also, RTZ Professional Audio will be in booth 559 to check out their stuff. If anyone is interested specifically in their products, I can arrange a pass so you can hear them and get a feel for them. You need to PM me right away though, as the deadline to arrange passes is closing in a couple days.

NAMM is a blast. Stories, stories, stories...

summer NAMM is there for the very few mom and pop music stores to place their Christmas orders, as they die out so goes summer NAMM. It's always been a show where the hospitality suite is more important than the display.
Prediction In ten years SUMMER NAMM will be more about Wholesalers/ Distributers and less about manufacturers, if the tend continues.
