The other day I was In Electronics Supply looking for those Damn strange sized Neutrik Crimp connectors used on Speakons and the subject of Switchcraft and the fact that they are cutting off anyone who is not a master distributor came up, now ES being literally my local supplier and 29 blocks down the street I introduced them to My former employer and REDCO, but if anyone is waiting on Switchraft orders be for warned. If your not a master distributor they don’t cared.

A couple of phone calls and some conjecture, SW survived the pandemic on the backs of manufacturers who were buying directly or from master distributors, it’s easier and cheaper to let your distributors deal with smaller orders. In the 90’s they tried it, but it just didn’t work. From my perspective easier to have REDCO stock 10,000 280’s and Mouser 20,000 than have them sitting on your shelf. |

I bought a single XLR m and XLR f recently. It was around $10 each. I have no idea if that’s a good deal or not. Would be a lot more than I can deal with to do a fan out though. Maybe. Switchcraft tends to last like 80 years lol. I just want to make one really good mic cable.. it’s on the to do list.

Lately I have been all about recycling jacks, maybe 1-50 bought for pennies on the dollar, but yesterday I needed 2 Speakon to 1/4 in and some speakers do weird things with TRS! Yeah I have about 100 TRS on hand, but nothing unbalanced so since the gig is Tuesday, I paid $10 plus $19.95 in shipping to make sure they get here in time from the MF warehouse 12 milled away! |

Dang shipping 🥲.. we bought a replacement window glass for our Honda from a distro center 200 miles away, and the shipping guys flew it to their hub a couple states away. A week later it arrived shattered of course lol. Insurance claim was so easy I wondered if it was all on purpose

All right my MF order showed up, first while the baggie has SW 280 printed on it the plugs are actually REAN /Neutrik 224 not a problem.
The thing I discovered and is kind of funny is GC / MF the biggest MI / Pro Audio Dealer in the world doesn’t buy connectors directly from manufacturers, nope they buy from Rapco a master distributor! Oh if only a ton of smaller dealers would learn how often it’s easier to admit your not as important as you think.
