I have one and like it. Just did some violin tracking with it and realized that I have not heard much about them lately. Jon is a nice guy and has answered emails generously. ShinyBox

Which one do you have? I have heard nothing but good things about Shinybox microphones... not much feedback on their preamp, however.

ShinyBox's are great mics! I just today, sent my pair of custom built Alctron rm8's(apex205's) with Samar rt32 toroidal trannies to Mark at Samar, he's going to install new ribbons(his way) and custom made diffusor plates he designed for this mic specifically, i usually do re ribboning myself, but guys like Mark and Jon are just too good and cheap to not take advantage of their great skills.

I really want to try out his Si pre with his mic since he made them to get out of the way of the ribbons sound. I had some good discussion with him on good pre amp design and the whole hi Z input craze that happened a few years back.
