I'd like to get my hands on an LA3A 500 unit but have neither the time or the skills. Anybody interested in tackling this?

I would have the Serpent SA3A 19"(Serpent Chimera) built if you have the space, Mike just extended the project, and they are available again at Serpent audio, you could get into 2 channels for about $900 total, excluding the build i'd suppose. Do you have one? Last time I checked they were trying to get enough people together to convince Peter to do another run. Did not think they were there yet. I have one and all the hard to find parts, but have not completed the build. Its on my list after the Don U76.

No i don't, yeah, i didn't think they were available either, i wonder what cowboy is thinking of? I know matkat music has a pair, he also has a pair of SA3A's, he says they sound virtually identical, which i agree with the samples he dropboxed me. The problem with Peter's kits, is a lack of support for dumbasses such as myself 8) If your looking for a single channel, the chimera(=true la3a with T4b opto's) is a no brainer, it's as good as it gets, and i think it's on sale for about a grand, the beauty of the DIY SA3A is a free channel for a little less than the price of 1. |

The JLM LA500 is very nice and reasonably priced in kit or built form.
