That’s awesome you were able to try a new interface and ruled out stuff! I guess looking back, I should have considered the tubey slight fuzz distortion? Maybe that stands out? Funny, the old classic tube mics chose the quietest, cleanest possible tubes and designs of 50s. So the tube-ness of the legend mics can be like “what tube?”
New manufacturers can’t get new tubes that quiet very easily, and home recording could use a little more “tube drive” anyway. They grab a new tube that probably distorts easier than they’d like. So the tube drive in your sample didn’t seem out of the norm. It was there, sounded kinda cool for your style anyway to me. I can tell you have a nice voice, I think it could work fine.
