i start to like plugins that do have flexibility and more features in one. like comp, sat and more. accelerates the workflow. enough of those 1:1 hardware clones with nice guis but limited action around.

Awesome!! Yet another SSL buss comp! Add it to the pile, boys!
Yawn.
It would be cool if someone came up with one plugin that could switch to other modes, such as 33609, Vari-Mu, etc. Like DMG TrackComp but with distortion modeling too.
Ok, maybe I was too dismissive and maybe this one really nails the smack like a hardware unit. Has anyone here tried it? Dan?

Don’t think is ssl?

Well, it has the exact same attack, release, and ratio values as the SSL, and the marketing copy also implies it's an SSL.

Maybe, but it describes a modern compressor?

Maybe, but it describes a modern compressor? Yeah, I guess an SSL with modern stuff like harmonic saturation and so on. More like the SSL BUS+ than the SSL 4k, it seems to me. It's strange that it isn't SSL-branded, though, given that Softube and SSL have worked together before.

SSL Comp is modern compression!
But this plugin seems very similar to the MAAG K-Comp.
You can focus in on mono frequencies. You can add air band EQ. You can adjust what's on the sides. Very similar to K-Comp.

Be interesting to demo: having all those options in one plug: is intriguing!.

Well, this plugin is clearly not supposed to be just "another SSL Bus comp". I don't know if it's good, but that kind of sarcastic post (that I also often do for the monthly 1176 release) is not really applicable imo.

Do they get a free pass just because they added saturation?

When will someone model the Buss+ and the Portico Buss Processor.

Do they get a free pass just because they added saturation? They've added Saturation (with tone shift and dry/wet), side chain with low cut and tone shift, Knee and Range added to the basic SSL compression, DAW tempo sync and a Spatializer. Sure, the compression seems copied from the SSL Bus Comp, but they've added a bunch of stuff.

When will someone model the Buss+ and the Portico Buss Processor. The Buss+ is kind of a self-defeating design of a simple classic. Needless features imo. My main problem with the SSL Bus's action is that the auto release initial release isn't fast enough much of the time and the 100 ms pumps wildly riding faders into it. If I want to fight that, I can use cooler sounding and more functional compressors.

I haven't gotten a chance to demo it yet but the appeal to me would be more of a replacement of the SSL Fusion Plug In series(particularly the saturation and width options). It would be nice to have something similar without having to use 3 or 4 separate plug in instances.

When will someone model the Buss+ and the Portico Buss Processor. For the MBP, you could try Acustica Snow.

Another positive user review: I don't doubt this is a good plugin as I like most of the stuff from ST, but "massive difference"... This was quite subtle compared to what happens when I add the Chandler Zener on my drum parallel..even when I use it lightly on jazz mixes..

It’s cool but it’s still an ssl bus plug. The glue came out like 15 years.

Quick question ... has anyone here with an SSL compressor, either hardware or software, wanted for variable attack or release timings?

Quick question ... has anyone here with an SSL compressor, either hardware or software, wanted for variable attack or release timings? It already gives you a wide range from smack to snap to limiting. The 100ms release is too slow and pumps wildly when dug in while the auto’s initial faster release is too slow and will overcompress and not hug the transients
