I’d rather use what comes in my interface than a warm product. Their 312 clone is actually quite good. I haven't used the Tonebeast or 412, but I would assume they're on par.
I'd probably shy away from their 1073, though. And I've been listening to more clips of the MPX — it sounds decent for the most part, but so far I haven't really heard anything that would warrant a purchase from me.
I think their mics and outboard are more interesting. I've always wanted to try their 47/87/67, and I liked the 1176 when I had it.

I like hardware and that’s what I use. Not a snob but I didn’t think the warm 312 sounded like a real 312 side by side. If you heard em youd say that’s the 312 and that’s the warm 312 which isn’t as good. Tonebeast was a variety on average.

I see they deleted my comment to the video regarding "...delivering an impressive 300 volts of raw power..."

Yeah Rob, but what about my Warm Coffee? I mean are these other Pre's as well grounded? BTW I just heard about the accident during that Warm video... The main guy badly burned his tongue, during filming. He drank his coffee before it was cool enough. Chris Disagreements about coffee have been known ro ruin marriages - it gives people grounds for divorce

Sounds awful to me. They’re very hot and cold considering they are called Warm. I think “Tepid” would be more suited.

I got my ampex 351 needs met for the moment. BUT kinda cool warm choose to do this, I showed it to a friend with a small home studio looking for a cheap flavour pre, could be the ticket. I'll compare it vs mine EC3s/ampex 351 if he grabs one. The vids are "okay" ... but hey, price is great.

I don’t think he’s using Logic, maybe Reaper ? Humour doesn’t need Logic I’m an Avid follower of fun.

Listened to some clips with it. I feel there’s so many mistakes with it. At clean decent settings it sounds ok I quess for what it is. But beyond that it sounded just really bad from the shoot outs I came across. The more gain switches just made it worse. And whats going on with the tape saturation switch??? It’s an analog gear with no tape… hence no tape saturation available. To me it came across as an ampex clone designed without insight in the ampex.
I understand there is a hype around sound boxes and saturation. But the whole misconception of vintage sound that surrounds that trend. Since none of the units (i’d dare say) was ever originally designed to be fuzz boxes, but rather clean headroom hi-fi audio units (though some of them tend to sound nice even with audible distortion beyond the subtle harmonic saturation we enjoy), why not just make really nice clone of the ampex 3XX since there are really not many out there? Even with price difference, I would rather save up to the locomotive audio 86B 2.

I guess expecting the Warm to sound the same/similar to a real 312, at that price point... And with all the switches is loco-motive. Chris

Stating the obvious to those who know me... Objectively, I don't have a high level of judgment regarding Pre's.* But enjoy having a bit of fun. If/when I buy a higher end Pre, the perspective of the kind of strong AE's here, along with direct experimentation... Would outweigh my preconceptions-hopefully. Chris *I just sense Pre-tentiousness with Warm sometimes, due to their glossy marketing.

yeah agree that the stock TB12 is pretty blase compared to the ad hype - it's okay out of the box but not exactly incredible the "tone shaping" switching options were pretty hard to discern even with the gain cranked to make it as obvious as possible I sent mine into Revive Audio for their upgrade/mod service it really sounds great now that was $250 bucks on top of the original cost but totally worth it imo

Chris *I just sense Pre-tentiousness with Warm sometimes, due to their glossy marketing. It really comes down to cost vs value, higher end pres cost more, so you need to decide where to spend ? I’ve ended up with a two channel daking (trident) clone: doubt I’d ever sell it. I’d still like to demo a Hardy/Grace/Millenial for cleaner detail to compliment the daking.

I was thinking, who do you guys feel is the demographic for this pre? I kind of feel it's marketed as an fx box... can it be a good go to pre for someone below all those decorations? Just curious.
