I like it because I can mix into it easily. My mix template routes everything out to the Orbit and through the chain I just mentioned and then back into a "mix aux." I don't really have to think about it. Just load up the template (in Reaper of course, I'm in the cult now) and get to work. Take it +1 and drop a Speck viaFader in there before the summer, lol. That's my route and I really enjoy it. I love your route and hope to follow in it someday. Seriously, I think about it a lot.

I have been writing, recording and mixing through this chain. Logic 8 stereo aux's out > RND 5057 > RND MBP > RND MBC >back into logic. I love the workflow.

Welcome to the forum wats434.
I'm a little shocked that you're on Logic 8. I gave up Logic 9 twelve years ago! Logic 8 must be at least 15 years old now I think.
I do get the "don't fix it if it ain't broke" thing, but you might find Logic X a revelation if you do upgrade.

If you need lots of recall it's not the best option but otherwise, it's a ton of fun. And there's some other advantages like running things hotter out of the daw and such. Being able to pull all faders down and just start over on a mix has helped me get past some places I was stuck too.

If you're working for a bunch of different clients at once where total recall is king, that's one thing. But with the way you're working (and the way I work), your approach is spot on, man. I find your process (and your outcomes) truly inspiring. I'm glad you're doing what you do in the world.
