Pure speculation here but I listed and have sold my ua octo and plugs.
No, need to beat the why horse to death, I am really focussed on paying off my tax debt: takes the fun out of life.
My interesting news was that I reached out to Vintage king, as I bought the octo there, 2 years ago and it does trade ins.
It didn’t want to touch the octo and offered zero trade in value: these currently sell on reverb for roughly $900 usd?
Could be circumstantial and I don’t think ua dsp is disappearing anytime soon, but it gave me pause, why would a major US retailer, that reps UA, not want a quality ua product on trade. VK normally offers you maybe half the street price for used stuff or had done when I inquired about apollos in the past.

I've become increasingly suspicious that new Apollos with ARM based DSP are coming out next month at NAMM. There seems to be lots of signs pointing towards that outcome.

I agree. It just seems very odd for VK not to want something it could easily sell, unless it perceives more downside than we see ?

They probably sell enough of those new to not want to bother with the leg work to sell a used one.

Sure, but that’s why they low ball, to create their margin to make it worthwhile!

I don’t think new hardware in terms of replacing cores is coming in, I think that UA is making the move to native at a fast pace, negating the need for the cores outside of their tracking interfaces.
The cores make sense there because you can run plugs and print them on the way in, but soon with all their stuff being native, mixing will just be with those versions, thus no more need for mixing cores.
Hardware wise I could see them coming out with something relating to ATMOS, but that’s about it

The ATMOS or better surround options would be interesting. I'd be excited to see something with AES, honestly.
It would be a nice upgrade for their desktop Twins to have ADAT out. Given that so many more desktop competitors and for what a Twin costs, it kinda sucks that ADAT out isn't included, as it could allow for more outboard options using just a Twin and something like a Ferrofish Pulse as a digital patch-bay.

If hardware inserts for Luna were on the horizon, I’d buy an x16 right now. Is there any indication that they truly intend to make it a reality? Seems like with Carbon on the map, UA has to. Or is that just wishful thinking? Like JohnKenn, eternally vexed by this.

Besides from a lot of pro's who use HW which would increase their adaption rate.

I’ve been bitching about HW inserts for Luna and I can’t even figure it out for effing PT for the last 10 years.

I’ve been following your frustrations, John, as they’re identical to mine. With my routing, I want/need my hardware comps before volume automation or it’s just exponentially more difficult to get where I want to be. I want to remain on my Apollo and remain on ProTools, but I’ll mix in Luna if they get this together. Seems like this shouldn’t be impossible.

I’m kinda sweating over here thinking that might be my move, and I’m not a finance my gear type of dude. It’s tempting though. 16x16, hdx card, hmmmm
