"twist my nerps" LOL... that got a very loud guffaw from me...... 8) nice one.... I appreciate the listen and the constructive feedback. I love clean mixes... its what I strive for....but... but... I take your point...I can do that... perhaps spread the mixing artistic wings a bit and be different.. its worth a try..I have time ... thanks again. cheers Wiz Me too chief but the best songs I've ever heard in both sonic and musical quality aren't perfect. There's a sense of elegance in the flaws, you can of course go too far the other way though. What pisses me off is those who manage both, a sense of total cohesion and incredible clarity.. Drop me a call and I'll literally fly over for a beer when either of us figure that one out.

This sounds confident. Really great, especially the slide guitar. Awesome feel on the whole tune.

It's an impressive mix Wiz and I hear this a lot with (modern) well engineered ITB, very focussed, lots of sonic clarity and I'm enamoured with the qualities of it. However it doesn't slap me in the face and twist my nerps. This is what makes me horrendously bad at my own stuff but an effective third party mix engineer, I can spot problems galore and tear something apart. With your track, there isn't any problems.. Technically speaking it's great, extremely well balanced, lots of seperation, no mud, no issues. This sort of mix warps my mind because I can never quite decide whether it's a good thing or not. Is it art or a technical showcase? Anyway, it does show how much engineering skill matters and I think you should honestly be proud of it. I guess I just like a bit of chocolate on my digestives, not healthy but I enjoy the taste nevertheless. Edit: What I'm trying to say is, you know how to mix so work backwards meaning variate and screw stuff up a bit. Congeal it a bit with more verb, randomise the snare, do everything that doesn't feel quite natural. You're well past the point of doing this because you don't know how, it's time to get messy. P.S Can't believe I'm saying that, 99.9% of the time it's the other way round.
I get your point - it’s almost too well done. Lol. I guess that’s what I was trying to say with varying the snare hits. We need some out of pocket, out of time (in a good way) ness. And Wiz don’t take that as a criticism at all - it’s really cool stuff and the mix on my monitors is really great…we’re just nitpicking well - because you put it out there lol (btw - I quit asking because everybody’s got a damn opinion.)

wiz could you post the old mix too? It would be cool to compare Hey Ragan thanks for checking it out. The old mix has no relevance.. as it was completely different version, I am retracking most things on these tunes, and this is a completely new song. I could post a couple of mixes without the tape and say one with out the summing, but its probably pointless and non representative as I essentially track and mix with that stuff from the start. cheers Wiz Ahh gotcha. I didn't catch that you were re-tracking, thought these were just re-mixes. Just took a listen. It sounds really nice. I kinda echo others' sentiment that I crave a little less polish on the drums, but that's obviously a subjective call. Cool tune man! Really glad you're seeing creative gains from where your setup and workflow are these days. Keep the music coming, friend.
