Not sure if you guys that have UAD have tried this EQ, but I have not found one single thing that it didn't kick complete ass on. Not sure if I've got any EQ hardware or software that can hang with this on guitars, almost seems like it was made for them. Then I put it on snare, felt like the SSL a little, where you hit the 8k and it actually makes it better, use 180 on the snare.... same damn thing. I guess this is probably one eq that I can identify the word "musical" with, it doesn't make anything seem weird and that lets me go fast which I like. And the filters... I actually get a sense of an overshoot, which I've only ever sensed on hardware filters, besides the Pultec they have. No one ever talks about this EQ..... makes me think it's a sleeper because it's not sexy, but might be one of the best all purpose EQ's there is in software land. It's a Thriller They are really starting to make it hard for me to buy hardware EQ's and Compressors.

Eq's are the one thing that digital does extremely well in my opinion. Don't really know why that is but I don't feel like I'm missing anything using digital eq's.
I've used this eq with good results. I'm also very guilty of using the Cubase strip eq as much as any eq I've got so I'm not an eq junky per say. Filters and shelving mostly for me. If it needs surgery, I nearly always use the stock daw eq. I can't hear much of a difference in digital eq's.

Huge fan of the UAD Harrison here. I agree with everything in your description. It's my go to EQ. I find it's somehow assertive AND gentle. Can't describe it really. It just massages the sound in a nice way. And it's filters are hands down my favorite.

I've demo'd this a bunch and really liked it. Just can't seem to pull the trigger on EQ's, though. I use Pro-Q on just about everything and then a smattering of UAD Pultec and MusEQ. I really liked the UAD Neve 1073 - killer on Kick and Snare - but haven't bought it. Gonna wait till Christmas sale.

I love ProQ...... it's the best EQ of it's kind for sure. But really it's not the same as something like the Harrison, where when you turn knobs things happen that you don't know about...... like the Q narrowing as the gain is increased, the overshoot on the filters, the harmonics etc. For me, ProQ is like the king of repair work, and also doing broad sweeps, or notching. I love it, but, there are so many EQ's out there that are console Emu's and for me, this is the best one so far. It really makes everything sound better. They've got it for $99 so it was a no brainer for me right now. I've bought two plugins on this sale, I'm hoping they'll send me a coupon before it goes off so I can pick up something else.

MP is really great, takes a ton of DSP though, but if you're just using it on the buss it's not so bad. It does do things that you can't recreate with other EQ's with the same settings, particularly the higher sheen. The 1073 is good, it def functions very similar to the hardware. The fader and output is a nice option for dialing the right amount of color, but it too eats a lot of DSP.

I just sold off my Quad omni. I had about every UAD plug (give or take some of the newer stuff), but found I was only using a handful. So I picked up an Octo to go with my Apollo Quad. I'll get the voucher, upgrade to the 6/799 deal, buy the Fabfilter Pro Q and DeEsser, Valhalla Vintage & Valhalla Room, teh Exponential Audio Phoenix and still pocket about a grand. I think it was a good move, though I will lose a crap ton of UAD plugs. Trying to iron out which ones I will miss the most and which ones I can live without. I've noticed that I've only got the EMT140 as the only UAD verb on my list, as I think I can live with the Valhalla/Phoenix combo. I've got Echoboy and H-Delay, so I don't think I need a UAD delay. Struggling with EQ's at the moment. I'm definitely getting the API vision strip, but don't know if the API 500 series EQ will add a ton of value. I've got the Harrison on my list. It's pretty handy. It's either that or the Massive Passive or the 1073. I use the legacy 1073 a bunch now, so I'm kinda thinking that I'll miss that if I don't have it. Makes my kicks sound pretty huge. Plus I have enough DSP now that I picked up an Octo in addition to my Apollo Quad, as well as starting to diversify my plugin collection. I was entirely UAD for a while, and it kind of bit me in the ass with all the UAD system bugs and DSP limits.

Is this anything like the Harrison MixBus eq? I've been using the Mixbus recently (it was on sale) and the whole thing is killer.

I would have to think it's similar..... I talked to the guy who's over MIxbus and he explained to me that basically their platform and plugins are from their digital consoles. So the same software that is in the digital consoles is basically Mixbus.

Bought the Harrison a long time ago and hardly use it. Just don't hear anything special. Maybe I should give it another try. Love the MP though, especially on vocals.

Well if you've got a set of electric guitars on a mix try it there first..... I believe that's where this eq really gives it's best. I absolutely love what it does for them.

Funny you say that, I'm just working on a few electric guitar tracks. I'll give it another try. Thanks. I also like to use the Softube Trident EQ on guitars, the 'May Midrange' preset is a good starting point for me.
