What a huge loss. I just saw him in October and he was totally on his game.

Seeing him was on my bucket list, was so happy to make it to opening night of his last tour, great show his playing was still top notch, in true JB fashion 1 strat, no guitar changes tuned it on stage.
Only disappointment was this loud obnoxious rock star wanna be who tried to sing a couple of songs, you know Johnny Depp.
Never thought he would be the first of the Yardbrids great to leave us
RIP.

Ugh…saw him 44 years ago (how can that be?) on the There and Back tour, Simon Phillips on drums, Jan Hammer on keyboards and Stanley Clark on bass. Doesn’t get better than that. One of my all time favorites.

Very unexpected and sad news. I don't think there was anybody who was so seamless and expressively fused with his instrument.

What sad news for musicians everywhere - I can't think of any guitarist who had more respect from his fellows than Jeff did, and quite rightly so. He was a one-off.
Thanks for all the glorious music you leave behind Jeff, and you will never ever be forgotten.

The daredevil stuff he pulled out of his hat with the Yardbirds influenced me immensely. Loved the rest of his stuff as well. A sad day for sure.

Super ouch. A super genius. Glad I saw him in person about 1970! And he was amazing then! He will be greatly missed.

One bar into a solo and he’s captivating: a master!

Man. He exhibited the greatest amount of egtr control I've ever been in the room with, maybe 2006 for me. Spent a pile of money years ago to get the Japanese only BB&A live record. Yardbirds BBC Train Kept a'Rollin' hardly plays a thing but totally molten.

The first show I went to was with my family, early 1990s Rod Stewart. Beck was a secret guest. Supposedly they hadn’t been on stage together in many years, you could see authentic joy and love between them as they played stuff from their youth. Both performed at the highest A+ level, I was learning to shred at the time and I was/am still floored at how he could slide right into MTV era Rod’s band after not being there so many years. It was the era of Jumbotrons and live cameras projecting the band with closeups. 30 foot tall close up on Jeff’s strat the entire show. His solo set it was like seeing a guitar god playing from the clouds.
The last few years I’ve been diving deeper into his albums (which are now in my top 5 for walking and working out btw) Absolutely timeless. How he just up and decided one day to give up playing with a pick, such a badass! How do you decide that, unless you are the best there is? I’m pretty sad to see the news. I’m glad for that first show. RIP

To me, he was the greatest that ever was. The number one influence on my guitar playing and musicianship and his humility and control was just beyond compare.
I am absolutely gut-foundered by the loss. I never got to see him live let alone meet him, spent a couple hours with Seymour Duncan talking about him and getting some insight on building a Tele-Gib, which I did because I loved his playing so much and just wanted a similar guitar for so many purposes.
Beck's playing was full of idiosyncrasies that many might have looked at as flaws but they weren't. They were signs of humanity in an increasingly inhuman world. Not just his jazz, hard rock or fusion playing or the otherworldly synth-like tones he could coax out of just a plexi Marshall 1/2 stack, a Strat or tele and a boss flanger pedal. But his rockabilly playing was also out of this world.
To me, the greatest of all time electric guitarist has passed away and the sense of loss I feel is overwhelming, almost unbearable since his playing changed my life direction when I was but 13 years old.
Rest in peace, I hope you go home to that good rewards, Geoffry Arnold Beck.

Gutted here. Like the wind got knocked out of me. A guitar magician. And nobody knew how he did it.
Followed him since 1966.

I saw a Rick Beato thing yesterday where he talked about being on stage during a JB soundcheck. He said something to the effect of "I was right there watching him and I still have no idea how he got that sound."

I've been a fan since "Rave UP"...
I'm not usually much of a fusion fan, but he was the exception. He could play anything and be great.
