In memory of JB and Lisa Marie introducing the kid to Jail House Rock from Beck-ola. I like what Gene Simmons said: go get the first two Jeff Beck Group albums and behold greatness. For sheer rock and roll fury, Beck’s solo on Jailhouse Rock (Beck Ola) is unmatched. 30 seconds of brain shredding emotion firehosed through a guitar and amplifier.

A fan since the Yardbirds. Lucky enough to see him three times. Such an inspiration and influence. Plus he was a motorhead! Gotta love his unique approach to life and music. RIP.

FWIW , my band supported him (with Jan Hammer /Steven kindler/Tony Smith - same record company) on a 3 date New Zealand tour around '76 . It was his jazz rock era (error?) which I was never too enamoured of but still honoured to have done it. Was introduced to him in his dressing room by the promoter pre the first show. Just one more anecdote to show the width of RGO collective experience. Cheers, Ross

Just watched a youtube tribute from Brian may which steered me to this - so unique. Lovely. He's playing the whole system, how he approaches the whammy bar for melody and vibrato, different ways of attacking the strings, for different sound AND to drive the amp and delay, the volume knob for envelope altering what happens in his left hand. So many things happening, a beautiful combination of mind and soul.
