Anyone playing this amp or recording this amp with the matching 2x12 cab w/Celestion Blue and Celestion Gold? What are your thoughts? At half power this thing is a beast! Loudest 30 watt amp I ever heard. I had to put it on 1-2 o’clock to get my tone and loud as hell!!! I loved the tone and the guy is holding it for me. I’m trying to make up my mind because this amp fits in between my Marshall and Stingray really nice, in fact I think it is the amp for me, but I need to find something like the Fryette Powerstation to calm this beast on the power! I think it’s still too loud for a club gig even at half power! Crazy loud!!!

I've had a Dr Z Maz 18NR head for years that I love. Probably my most versatile amp. It has a master volume, though. I prefer to crank an amp when I can, but the MV helps me stay in good graces in that world where "it's always too loud for somebody." I bought just the head so I could roll speakers more easily. Quickest way to change an amps sound for sure. I keep looking for the newer model Fryette attenuator, but I keep striking out. I could use one in the studio. I have a Weber MiniMass, and it's OK, but the Fryette looks like the one to own. I have grown particularly fond of the Celestion Gold 10. I need to try a 12. I've done several of the other 12 notables: Jensen, Jupiter, Weber, Celestion Blue. I need a Marshall-type thing for the studio. You got any recommendations?

I have 4 Doctor Z amps. 3 heads (Maz 18, Stangray, Galaxie) and a Maz Senior/38 combo.
All these amps (and every other Z) sound better with alnico speakers. Celestion blues and golds are great and I have a bunch and some AC30s loaded with Blues and a Blue/Gold combo
But the best speaker choices?
1. Tone Tubby Chicago Blues.
2. cell estion Alnico Ruby 35 watt.
Those are the best two speakers I've ever used on any EL84 output tube amplifier. (and I have just about everything between all 45 amps and cabinets I own here at the moment)

Unfortunately, I’m recommdationless at the moment, 😆! These things are so subjective, but I’m using a Celestion Blue and a Hellatone in a 2x12 with my Metroplex head and really like it. It doesn’t have that nice push a 4x12 puts out, but it sounds nice. I like Marshall heads and Les Pauls when I want that sound with a 4x12! My Dr Z 65/45 also sounds killer through a 4x12 with a Les Paul! Ward would probably be the guy to ask, as I’m still searching for what works for me. I have a Marshall 1960B cab that has been put through the wringer w stock speakers and needs new speakers. I have a really nice Vetta 2 Line 6 4x12 cab that is speakerless at the moment and needs to be filled. I also have 2 2x12 cabs, one has an England Ipswich Blue and a Hellatone and my other other 2x12 has a pair of Greenbacks. I have an extra celestion blue and an extra hellatone laying around and yet to find a cabinet. I noticed I really like the Mesa Boogie 4x12’s oversized cabs. A buddy of mine had a generic well built 4x12 cab with EV’s in it. That thing sounded great! I don’t know what kind of EV’s it had in it though, that was many years ago.

No Zwreck here but I have a KT45 and an SRZ65. They sound great thru both my Marshall cabs. One is vintage 30s the other is loaded with old greenbacks. If it’s the EL84 vibe and kinda voxy alnico blues are a must. That’s the sound for me.
