What drives do you guys use for memory backup/sample libraries/project files/etc?
I recently picked up a local line called the LightDrive by AVL. They specialize in outfitting and building venues and studios, and they make a sleek solid state driveāit matches the silver aluminum Macbooks, which is a plus.
Any other SSD or hard drives you guys have used reliably? I only know of WD and Seagate.

I'm using a ssd as my main drive in my Mac mini and the. A usb3 4tb drive. Haven't really had any problems at all. Although I bet two ssd drives would be killer. The ssd drive was the biggest speed jump I ever had.

Using two SSDs (Crucials) inside my macbook, one's the system drive, the other is all samples. Record projects into a couple Glyph drives I got for a steal when MacMall was blowing them out Believe Seagates are inside. Otherwise, I have no problem using WD, Seagate, etc external harddrives. Just have another drive for duplicating important stuff. For taking with me though, I'll use the smallest HD I have

I run two 1TB drives in the recording computer. I use one of them with two partitions for the OS(on one partition) and cache/setup files/drivers/etc on the other partition. On the other drive I have two partitions, one is currently active for data, the other will be used once the first one fills.
Externally I have a 2TB WD green HDD I put in a cheap USB3 chassis that I use for weekly backups. I have it split into 2 partitions. One is for home backups and the other is for studio backup with data and application folders.
Occasionally I'll do Blu-ray backups of whatever is on the USB3 backup drive.

With all those partitioning, my guess is you're a really neat and tiddy person right?

With all those partitioning, my guess is you're a really neat and tiddy person right? If you've ever had to send files to someone for mixing, or had to deal with impatient clients, or otherwise work with 100 tracks of various sounds and instruments, then being neat and tidy with the folders is the only way to get through it!

4 1TB drives in my Mac Pro tower. One drive is specifically for backups, and can be popped in and out at any time with ease. Works like a charm.

The ssd drive was the biggest speed jump I ever had. SSD was such a huge jump in speed. We compared the HD and SSD versions of the LightDrive and the difference was close to 100 MB/sec. Insane.

How does having two SSD's effect using instrument libraries? Lots quicker?

Depends on your processor. With dual processors, it's going to be significantly faster. But if comparing between single processor machines, the speed difference is going to be minute. I just work from a single SSD. Easier to transport
