on my monitors...which makes me wonder if my long-in-the-tooth Lexicon NT2 is in need of repair. I guess I've noticed it ever since I re-did my room and set the monitors 2-3 ft back farther. I haven't noticed any change in tone per-se, so maybe it's literally just that: they're further back and I didn't need that much volume when they were closer. Are there any tell-tale signs of maybe some caps being bad? As you guys know, I'm an electronics idgit...so be gentle.

I think it's just the increased distance. People on the couch 6 feet behind me always want it louder, and I already can't hear them talking to me.

To quote the Split Enz , the tyranny of distance, yeah an increase of 1 meter will reduce SPL by 6DB everything else being equal. ( I even checked my math using Stage Accompanys SPL Calc) so it’s not your Amp, and you’re not going nuts, just those pesky laws of physics. If it makes you feel better a couple of years ago my wife and I got in a huge fight because I swore she moved the speakers and the couch when cleaning because levels were suddenly higher. She swore she didn’t, till I got out the tape measure and found they were 26in closer.
