Here are some raw unmixed tracks of the N22 on a bunch of different amps and guitars. (Carmen Ghia in the center and Twin Reverb panned hard left and right)
The fuzzed out panned guitars are recorded with treble on the Twin Reverb at 10. Still extremely warm for how potentially harsh it can sound.
Love this mic so much!

Cool idea for a demo, nice big guitars. Sounds great.

Just looked at the description for this mic and I see talk about its increased upper-mid range presence. I assume this is to directly compete with the 121. Wondering if you've done any a/b's with the 121 and what your thoughts are.
Also, have you tried with acoustic git?

I tried it on acoustic...sounded really nice. It's a skoche forward in the 2khz region...I'd like to have one again, though

Haven't had to try them against each other simultaneously, but here are some differences I can discern immediately from memory: -N22 has a more noticeable midrange, but also quite a bit more presence than the R-121 -Active electronics in the N22 make it more adaptable to quiet preamps -Proximity effect and mic placement is plays a bigger factor in the sound of the N22. -The N22 is really meh as a room mic I'm wanting to try it on an acoustic performance sometime soon. Stay tuned!

And Johnkenn, I definitely feel ya. Been playing around with the EQ on these tracks, and I had to scoop out the 1.6-1.9k frequencies pretty hard to get it to not sound honky in the mix.

There's a sweetwater video of two dudes singing on it that sounds absolutely amazing.

I think I prefer the darker flavor ribbons but would be very curious about this type of ribbon on a vocal and acoustic guitar. Might provide a bit more detail that sometimes lacks with a darker sounding ribbon.

I have an old all mahogany Guild that is usually pretty dull and boomy with other ribbons, but I'm guessing it'll sound just right with the N22. Also going to try it on a Taylor 810 which I'm not having too high of hopes for. But we'll see.

Anyone compare to the R92?

I've compared to an r84. The r92 is brighter than the r84 but nowhere near as bright as the n22. The n22 is kind've ready to go out of the box, the other two need eq.

Wow, that's a ribbon? That was incredibly bright. I thought my R121 was a sorta-bright ribbon compared to others but that one is truly bright.

Yeah. It's bright for a ribbon. But I really liked it when I had it.

Wonder what a 57 sounds like right next to it in comparison on an amp?
