So I bought the 4072 mounts with the mics and they seem to only accept the 3/8” threads for stands. Is there a way to make them fit 5/8” or whatever non-euro threaded stands use?
I thought I could maybe unscrew it or something but I haven’t seen anything obvious and I don’t wanna break it

Yeah, I know there are options. I was hoping there was some non-intuitive way to reveal some hidden alternate mount or something. Ah well. Won’t get to play with these on my session tomorrow

Yeah just get a 3/8 to 5/8 adaptor. Good to keep 4-6 on hand for various things.

Yeah, just snagged a few. Just feeling dumb that I paid more (admittedly prob $50 at most) to “upgrade” to the shock mounts when I woulda been better off getting the cheaper ones.

Even with the adapter needed, I still like the 4072 adapters better than the cheaper ones.
No regerts! =P

Even with the adapter needed, I still like the 4072 adapters better than the cheaper ones. No regerts! =P I researched and deliberated between 4071b and 4072 when I first picked up my pair of Coles 4038s. .. I ordered a matched pair that included the standard 4069 xlr adapters (I assume these come with every 4038) and ended up ordering the Coles Microphones 4038 Stereo Bar and forgoing either of the pricey stand mounts. In the past couple of years I've only taken the coles down once or twice, the rest of the time, they live on the stereo bar.. never, yet, needed them mounted individually .. but assuming I'll need to at some point, do you mind sharing some insights regarding what you like about the 4072s? Not cheap for shockmounts, but potentially useful I assume. Thanks!

The primary thing about the 4072 is that it provides a modicum of shock absorption.
I'm not going to claim it's an amazing amount, but even just a bit helps with vibration coming up through the stand. The other adapters have zero in the way of absorption, and the mic itself has none.
The 4069 adapters do the job of getting things to XLR, but I'm always annoyed at how the XLR inserts at a rotated angle, and not straight into the bottom like my mind always expects mics to work. Not a huge deal, and you get used to it, but....

I’m at a loss to understand how they continue to make a mic with a connector that no one else has used in 60 years, that is such a pain in the ass to mount. These are pretty simple modernizations.

Putting foam squares under the mic stand legs will do a better job if appropriate.
