Chad can build a 47 style for $1000?? Oh, I think Chad’s is a little more than that, but worth the extra couple hundred or so. I double checked, and yeah- Chads 47s are $2200 a piece. Not saying they aren't worth that, just that the price for a pair after tax is closer to $4500... I got a pair of these for $2000. |

For those curious- these mics are awesome. They sound so good. I couldn't be happier to be honest. I have an impression that in certain circles Telefunken is seen as maybe resting on brand identity or overpriced- perhaps due to their missteps in the early days when they became a US brand? But yeah. Build is awesome. Sound is awesome. Support is excellent, in response to any questions Ive had. I'm a fan. Some of the only mics I've had where I can't see any reason to ever sell them.
As an aside, other non sellable mics for me are RE-16, RE-11, RE-320, Samar AL-95s, EV 635s, Serrano 87.

He can do a cheaper version that’s less with a different capsule (and maybe xformer?), but last I saw, it was still probably $1500 or so. I’m assuming he still offers that version, but perhaps he stopped offering it? |
