So I have a deal on the table to buy 3 brand new Phoenix Audio DRSQ4 MKII units for $850 a piece. Pretty incredible price! They are the 'newer ones' made in the USA. I keep seeing that folks have issues with certain DRSs having bad op amps... I would hate to go in so hard on 6 channels if I'm going to be fighting an op amp battle for the rest of my life. Ha! Any perspective robschnapf notneeson lpedrum jcoutu1

Sounds like a great deal, hard to pass up…but just food for thought, if you’re primarily looking for preamps you can find the 8 channel Phoenix pre for around $2000-2400 on reverb quite often.

Ive seen those prices for used, but I would prefer getting something new with a warranty. Plus having 6 Pres with EQs is more useful to me than 8 pres. I have tons of pres already and actually want to simplify things a bit.

I remember Front End Audio or Zen Pro, I forget which, offering these Phoenix EQs (and preamps) for pretty cheap prices, around the range of prices being discussion in this thread.
I have no personal experience with Phoenix products, and they seem to be pretty well regarded sound wise. That said, I too have heard about the opamp thing and it has made me take pause whenever I've considering buying a Phoenix product.

I think I got mine at 1200 new as a smoking deal. I wouldn’t buy at that price thinking flip for profit, but the deal is good. 425 per channel for preamp eq is pretty damn good. Worth every penny. I like mine a lot. Did pop an op amp, but the repair was painless.

I looked into this not too long ago and saw great prices at one of those places too. But as I looked deeper I found that they were selling the older model that had reliability issues. I think they were just trying to get rid of the old stock.

Warren Dent at Zen Pro Audio - he has a mod with a 40hz HPF. Not sure it applies to these particular phoenix eqs. Anyway, he is very knowledgeable about Phoenix Audio.

I think they were just trying to get rid of the old stock. I checked, these are not the original more problematic UK versions. Also I emailed a shop directly to get the price, not a public price online.

I just checked my email history- ZenPro had them for 1299 in 2019 back when I was considering them in the past. They still have one unit with their mod available from what I can tell.

I have the Phoenix Ascent Two, and I love it. Not hesitant to use it on anything, but I love it most on electric guitars. The EQ is really quite nice.
I had mine modded to the 40hz version at the manufacturer before purchase.

Yes I bought 3 a few weeks from ZenPro, and Warren coordinated Phoenix drop shipping them directly, so I already have them. Love these units! Interestingly, that means the ZenPro Mod is done by Phoenix.
