What do you do with gear that has no more value and no real function anymore?
I have 3 DAWtomatoom SOLO8 Vca boxes which in theory were going to be great. The company crashed and burned and I might be the only person on the planet that actually received their units. Idk. But I paid for 4 and only ever got 3.
They are basically brand new. Barely used because they are software controlled and only run on Mac for some reason. And I switched to OC shortly after getting them.
They are basically worthless since the company is dead and the control plugin is probably non function on the newer Mac os.
So what to do? I don't want to just throw them away. Not sure I can salvage much in components.
What do you do with devices like this?

Now for all those who thought I was nuts and didn’t think I knew what I was talking about when I said it needed a stand alone app, because you were at the mercy of OS Computer hardware and OS I TOLD YOU SO!!! Ok done gloating now here is the thing your not shit out of luck, like every other sucker who bought a third party fader automation package you need to think a little out of the box while living in the boxes. You know what DAW and platform the plugin works on, simply by a computer you know it’s stable on, and the DAW software and OS it works on ( probably pretty cheap) a midi interface with time code for that and your main DAW system and have it set up so the computer with automation chases the main system. Build a template with that plugin open and you have automation. Bit clumsy? Yes but you will find the exact same senerio without the Second DAW just about anywhere the automation isn’t current.

I don't want to maintain a machine for years just for that praying it'll stay alive. Would rather get the WesAudio ones and move on. Just don't know what to do with my almost $3000 paper weights.

But I get it the other day the power button on the 2011 MBP I let the kid have gave up the ghost, called my max guy $250 to repair ) $100 to have him pull the drive, went down the street picked up a OO Philips and t6 torx bits for $5 and stopped at another computer place for an $12 drive enclosure. Today I dropped it off T the Mac guy who at first didn’t understand that I was recycling it, and he was pissed I pulled the drive!

But I paid for 4 and only ever got 3. I’d take him to small claims court just on principle for that one. 🤪 Companies that go under like this should just open source their stuff.

I think Eric nailed it, get a cheap Mac, set it up and use it or sell it as a working system. $150 max would be a start, macs typically last forever if you don’t update them, they don’t die like PCs usually do. If it actually worked, it could be useable to someone. Trying to get rid of something that probably doesn’t work and might never will.. that’s not easy

Was there ever working software for it, regardless of the OS version?
It shouldn't be that hard to reverse-engineer, in my estimation.

Needs to be on an intel based Mac now though. Think 10.14 was the approved version.
