If Y'all haven't checked out these folks working with Metric Halo on plug ins you need to. I got a advanced copy of the make believe bundle for evaluation and I am really impressed. Normally I will listen to a plugin and get excited for a little while and then forget I have it because at the end of the day I find software in many cases sounds 2D compared to my hardware on program. I checked out the SONTEC 432-D9D emulation which is the only one approved by Burgess and It sounds just like the hardware. Just a touch of 50HZ and 12K is stupid good sounding without touching the other bands... I never post about software but this is legit to the point I am considering selling my hardware Mastering Eqs. I have also gone into depth with there "kevin's Limiter" and "Goodmath" Plugs. if properly set up I am getting very clear and loud program with less artifacts and hi excitement. The Goodmath plug is interesting as I am not exactly sure if it is a normal clipper or what but it is quite analogue in its effect. If you click the A in math it does sort of a Lavry Gold clip emulation I think? The limiter has no controls and sounds great if you push into it appropriately. The Mbeq is so natural that I am going to be using this as a channel eq on a lot of sources. Overall these cats are bringing software finally to where I can't complain about it. All of the units in the bundle have a very low cpu hit and sound great without harming the source. Check this stuff Out!!!

I've been playing with their plugins included in the Metric Halo 3D Console, and I've really liked what I've heard so far, too. Mostly just Goodmath and MBeq, but I've been impressed, too. I just heard about the SONTEC emu a few days ago, but haven't heard it yet. You've got me excited to try it out!

One of the best things I've done for our studio is to have switched over to Metric Halo hardware

I think its very good, interesting having such precision( fine increments),in a plug. My dilemma is, its roughly 20-25% of the price of the High Voltage Audio eq6s: different beasts, but I’m interested in that too!

I have the Eq6s as well but I must say the plug sounds really close to level of both my hardware EQs.....

BTW if you try the Goodmath plug click the A in math as it adds something besides gain....

Im just finishing a new 9 song album and had been using Softube curve bender on my 2 buss.
just opening each track defeating CB and introducing the Sontec.
I have never used a high end OB mastering eq but what I think I am hearing is a sort of immediate improved yet subtle presence and cleaner sound.
As I try different presets, I continue to hear that subtlety but also the effect of the changes of the eq settings.
I will be very surprised if I don't buy this.

It’s going to be a couple weeks before I have time to really demo the Sontec plug. Nice to hear feedback prior to that.

Has anyone gotten the chance to play with MB eq? That one is my favorite - ryan I have used it many times in dsp on my MH ULN8’s, it’s an excellent plugin especially with sauce.

Oooo.... sauce? Intriguing. same technology that goes into the sontec went into capturing the PYE tvt preamp thats the input stage of sauce Really digging the MBEQ so far. If I had ANY complaints it would be that I keep getting the Q handles stuck under the circle and when I try and grab it by the handles wind up selecting a different option by mistake. Would love to be able to hit the scroll wheel on the mouse to quickly sort the width out. I realize I could simply click over to select Q but would prefer one less click because I'm just lazy like that. These are all great plug ins.

I also keep the training wheel off, its to help you learn the key commands. - ryan

same technology that goes into the sontec went into capturing the PYE tvt preamp thats the input stage of sauce Go check your MIO I just looked at my MIO plugs but didn't see either: - a preamp character emulation of the PYE tvt preamp - a "sauce" button on the MBeq. There are the two sliders on either side, though. What should we be looking for in the MIO? Thanks.

What should we be looking for in the MIO? Thanks. You turn “Sauce” on and off via the menu that pops up when you right-click. The faders on L and R of the interface are how you gain stage into (and out of) Sauce. But more than that, did you read BJ’s email from today? All these new plugs — including the Sontec! — are now available in the MIO DSP. You have to update your MH Console app. It’s a big update, including firmware and a big driver latency improvement and a bunch of other stuff. Read BJ’s email before attempting the update.
